Biography
PYRRITE
– SPECTRE
Mysterious | Ethereal | Saddened
In ages long past, he was a spirit, bound to a stone of black, with flecks of gold within. He was used by aspiring mages as a learning tool, learning to summon spirits bound to artifacts, making them obey your will. Sometimes, he was used as an advisor, offering wisdom to those that asked for it. Though he willingly chose to bind himself to the stone, sometimes he regretted his choice. Once the Speaker had spoken, he had soon been forgotten as a relic of an ancient, backwards time. With the onslaught of technological advances, and astronomical discoveries in magic, there was simply no way anyone wanted to learn to summon bound spirits. Over the years, many bound souls either simply ceased to exist, or they were able to escape their magical bindings, letting their artifact crumble to dust. But not Pyrrite. No, he stayed in his stone, living in a sort of half-sleep, groggily watching the world go farther and farther away from their history. Until one day, a terrible, cataclysmic event happened, leaving almost all life extinguished. But it was afterwards that he witnessed a surprising change on this world. He saw three great wyrms, two battling with pestilence and nature itself, and one that looked like he would break in a stiff wind. It wasn't long before another cataclysm happened, a force so powerful, so...ancient, knocked him out for many ages, only to awaken in the claws of a reptilian creature. A dragon. From that moment, he realized what the draconic beings were trying to do, but the magical rituals to summon him weren't compatible anymore. He tried to tell them, but the only one able to hear his voice was the youngest dragon, one they called Akeldama. Through her, he was able to have protective talismans made, and he told her to give them to the others, so that the resulting explosion would be contained. But they ignored her, saying that they had the spell in check already. Oh...if they had only listened. But once freed of his crystalline prison, he used the incinerated remains to carry the little surviving dragon to a different lair while leading the other surviving hatchlings before collapsing to dust. This world's energies were so different from when he last walked the world. So, seeing that the dragons of that lair discovered them and took the little group in, he began to explore this place, slowly gathering enough essence to fashion a body for himself. After years, he felt ready to return to Akeldama, and see how she had grown. But he had no idea that he would find her in a place that not even he dared to venture to. Now, he spent his days ensuring the ancient seals from even before his time were maintained. Though he feared that the seals are now too weak to contain the horrors within, as the sealed threat's influence begun their grisly work. Now he needed to find a way to protect the clan from the impending tragedy. |
