Everything was black and dark. Dark like a night sky without stars, dark like the depths of an ocean, dark like the middle of a forest… And that was where he was. Into the void. In some place in which there were no noises, no lights… no hope… He felt hopeless.
It was like he was floating. He couldn’t feel his legs, his arms, his wings… It wasn’t even like he was the master of his own body. It felt unfamiliar. Foreign. And it was horrifying. He was scared. He was moving, but he didn’t know where... It terrified him.
And that’s when he saw them, the lights. Some were moving, others were static. He had to know what it was. It felt surreal, it felt marvelous. Those lights made him feel safer the more he approached.
He heard shouts and laughs, giggles and exclamations. People were running around happily, others were talking together, and some were on their own. He felt safe. Everything felt right again.
And that is when he decided that he would protect this place. That this place will bring as much joy, happiness, and hope as he felt when finding it.
