🙘hhBACKSTORY
hhhSpades grew up always trying to figure out why she was different from the other dragonets. The others seemed to have such an easy time talking to strangers, reading social situations, and making friends. Most of the adults dismissed her anxiety and told her to get over it. It led to a lot of loneliness and internalized guilt. But her parents always showered her with love, and her special interest in snakes always made her happy (still does). She eventually found friends that made her feel less lonely; friends that she could talk to about the things that bothered her deep down. Only after she grew up did she learn that she was autistic and had OCD and chronic anxiety. It was a crashing relief to know that it wasn't her fault.
hhhFor the past few years, she has had a compulsion to light a candle before every conversation. At first, her clanmates gave her weird looks and avoided conversation with her, but over time they realized it really wasn't a problem and even sometimes offer her a lit candle to initiate conversation.

🙘hhPERSONALITY
hhhSpades is one of the most bold, honest, genuine, and empathetic dragons in the lair. She's never been concerned with petty drama or people pleasing, and she's never afraid to comfort a dragon in need. Spades values the loyalty of her friendships above anything else. Her favorite dragon, her best friend in the whole world is Artemis, who has been with her through thick and thin, and given her unconditional love. They met at some fancy academy in the Sunbeam Ruins and Spades ultimately brought Artemis to Splendor a few years later. No matter where or when, the two of them can coexist without draining each others' energy. She can completely let go of social standards around Artemis. Her favorite thing to do with Artemis is hanging out in the library and reading books for hours while Artemis judges the quality of the bookmaking.

🙘hhDAILY LIFE
hhhCleaning is something Spades can always lose track of time doing. Making sure every bit of furniture and decoration in the clan is perfectly spotless and straight soothes the potential guilt and anxiety of not doing it. Some days she's running around cleaning from sunrise to sunset, and other days she takes time to herself, to charge her social battery. Spades's lifestyle is different than most dragons around her—she's usually muttering to herself and fidgeting, stumbling in conversation, and occasionally known to lash out aggressively over something seemingly small. Textures of certain woolly fabrics cause her something almost like pain, and the pressure of making a decision can sometimes trigger a meltdown. When she's overwhelmed, she flaps her wings to self-regulate, but she also does it unconsciously when she's happy. Her room is always spotless, however she's usually dressed messily, which confuses most dragons. She's never felt the need to put thought into her appearance, and she really loves the feeling it gives her to not have to care about one thing.
