Mercuria was always a wayward hatchling. As soon as she learned how to walk, she learned to vanish, often sending the entire clan into an uproar before she was found again. This tendency to explore, however, was her undoing.

Captured and drugged, Mercuria found herself transformed into a creature of metal, oozing sparks and sludge. She'd also lost almost all connection to the magic in her blood. After being rescued and returned, she found some solace in fellow experiment survivor Duria, but even Duria's ordeal had not been as complete as Mercuria's own. Mercuria gladly accepted her brother Sakurako's suggestion to make their own way in the world, though she held skepticism in his methods.
