"Who are you?" She snarled, stepping out in front of the Pearlcatcher as he sat with the peaceful look of a hatchling that still believed in love, in family. "Riptide..." He muttered, looking her up and down as the small waves swirled around his eyes, one of the few sources of water that had not been frozen in the cruel conditions of the ice warden's domain. "And you?" He rolled his pearl back and forth in the snow, creating a small dent that slowly began to deepen. She shook her head, the wolf skin draped over it did not seem intimidating to the Pearlcatcher, nor did the tundra's feral attitude. "Get out, Riptide. I do not want to see you in these lands again, or you will face the consequences. If you refuse to leave, you will learn what those consequences are tonight." She had no talent of twisting words, though the directness had served her well in the past, it was not as beneficial now. "No one has called these lands home in years." He replied, voice still low as he scanned the terrain, the frozen lake stood out to him, though he was certain this tundra must have come from the caverns buried in the mountains. "Times have changed. Now leave, or I will show you out myself." She stepped closer, looking up to the sky, she still had plenty of time before sunset. Riptide stood, shaking the snow from his claws. "I will allow you to try." He nodded to her, standing as he waited with his head slightly tilted. |

Yet the Tundra was too slow, and the grey-furred leader went skittering across the ice behind the Pearlcatcher as he swiftly moved out of the way, looking back to see her struggling to stand on the icy surface. "Coward!" She shouted at him, snarling as she stood unsteadily on the ice, sliding back and forth. He jumped onto the ice, the cracks sounding like music to his ears, if only he could release the water underneath. "I am no coward, I just do not see reason to harm you. We can live here together, you know." He watched as she lowered her head, growling again. "If you will not submit willingly, I will force you!" She attempted to jump at him once more, but instead lost her balance, falling to the iced-over lake with a loud thump, and many more resounding cracks. Riptide took hard steps as he continued to crack the ice, still rolling his pearl along with him. "You are in no position to be fighting. Just agree with me, we can be equals, and I will help you off this ice. Though for an ice and Tundra dragon, I'm surprised you can't manage yourself out here. Unless the eyes hiding under that wolf skin are not a chilling blue? In which case, I would wonder how you found yourself here..." He muttered, moving across the ice with ease as he continued to examine the Tundra. She had almost made it back to her claws when a loud crack sounded, and the ice beneath her shifted. She let out a shout as she fell back down, the ice breaking off into chunks, she scrambled to latch onto one. "Stand in fight me!" She yelled, though she was clearly in distress as she struggled to keep the slate of ice from tipping and sliding her off. The ice beneath the Pearlcatcher began to snap as well, though he only smiled in delight. He jumped into the icy waters, the chill not bothering him, he was just glad to be in his element. He swam through the breaking ice, dipping his head underwater as he scanned to see if any creatures were trapped under the ice. When he saw nothing, he asked the Tundra another question, resurfacing. "Most dragons would simply fly out of this situation... yet you have not chosen to do so. Why not? Perhaps you cannot..." He watched as she continued to struggle, her back claws slipping into the frigid waters. "I will help you, or I can leave you here to drown. Just allow us to share this territory." "I will never share my land with some primal-eyed freak!" She shouted, before slipping off the ice and thrashing in the waters. She clearly had no clue how to swim, and it wasn't long before she vanished beneath the surface into the dark waters, while Riptide only watched. The Pearlcatcher dove beneath the surface, watching her struggle, waiting for her to run out of air. It didn't take long for the water to fill her lungs and for the fighting to cease, and Riptide grabbed the tundra by the scruff of the neck. With the help of a little magic, he was able to propel himself to the surface with the tundra in tow, bringing her to the edge of the lake. He settled her down in the snow, waiting patiently for her to wake up so they could come to an agreement. Before she awoke however, he heard the screeches of distress from a hatchling. Looking out across the lake he noticed the shape of a small hatchling, a Pearlcatcher judging by the small shining orb clutched in its grasp. It struggled to stay on the ice, terrified of the water, though Riptide noticed how odd its skin looked, red and almost... rotting. Either way it was a hatchling of his own kind, and once again he dove back into the frigid waters to rescuse it. |
