Biography
They/them.
Jay refuses to talk about their charge. Idle speculation may result in complete indifference or snarling rage, depending on their mood, and these days takes place mostly in hushed whispers far away from Jay. All that is known about Jay is that they came to the clan bedraggled and in need of shelter, that they refuse to talk about their past, and that they haven't left yet.
Well. That's not quite true, is it? Because some of them know a little more than that; they just don't talk about it. Jay is odd, flinches away from magic. Healing spells take a little longer to work, with Jay, but when left alone and unhealed, Jay recovers much faster than a normal dragon should. Jay doesn't get sick.
Mutations happen. Jay's body is physical proof of that. Akshi's unusual magic is proof of that. Perhaps it's just Jay's refusal to talk about their past that makes dragons uneasy, like the fact that Mazin's history can't be traced back into his childhood. (Jay's not like that; they've seen Jay come across dragons they recognized, though it involved a whole lot of Jay seeing another dragon and immediately turning in the opposite direction. Nobody wants to pry, because they clearly feel more strongly about it than Mazin.)
But some of them have a sense that something was done to Jay. Not by their family, because that's not what makes Jay twitchy. But there are unscrupulous dragons out there, hostile Beastclans, and a malevolent force nobody truly understands. Anything at all could have happened to Jay to make them just a little to the left of what a normal dragon would be. Anything at all could make those able to sense magic unable to sense Jay themself. And Jay certainly is never going to say what it was.
