Smoke is a scrollwriter. Not a writer, not a scribe, a scrollwriter. She makes magical scrolls that change a dragon's appearance- change their breed, their markings, everything. Everything but the eyes. Scrollwriting is extremely difficult, and dangerous if done wrong, but Smoke is very well-trained and very good at her job. Generally, she only makes scrolls when a member of the clan needs one, but she does make some to sell on occasion. She's very proud of her talents.

Smoke is stern and serious. Her work requires no distractions, so she sometimes snaps at people who act out around her, even when she's not working- no one dares disturb her while she's working. She mostly keeps to herself, and has only a few people she likes spending time around. She sometimes cuts loose, though. After a project, she occasionally goes wild and enjoys a wild night reading by the fire. Not research, but fiction. Fiction!
Her life has, however, become a little wilder after taking on an apprentice. She cares deeply for the child, of course, and she's impressed by her incredible innate magic, but she's just so... energetic.

Smoke was born, raised, and trained in a scholarly clan in the Southern Icefields. Her clan was very wealthy, as they had several scrollwriters, and their skills are extemely valuable. She was trained by one of the best. After she completed her apprenticeship, she set out to find a clan who needed her skills. She tried a few out and found them not to her liking, then found the clan. She enjoyed the solitude they allowed her and decided it would be her new home.
