Biography

Gabriela is one of my fun-loving gals and would try to get along with everyone. She is currently a mage in schooling. She has a passion for magic, but hasn't really shown much progress compared to other students. She always has a warm smile on her face and uses her magic to brighten other people's day. She has a lot of practice with illusion magic and can do some amazing things with it. She is often insulted within her school about how her illusion magic isn't real magic, but she tricks them with her illusions as a sort of revenge.

On probation at mage school for improper use of magic. Hiding a mud pit with an illusion spell would have been a fun and harmless prank...if it weren't the headmaster who ended up falling in! :O

19-3-2019
Gabriela arrived at the inn with Dover. Though the imperial was hesitant, she was quick to notice the illusion the trees were weaving with their leaves. The woods was playing tricks on them, and any attempt at leaving the area would most likely result in them getting more lost. She dragged Dover up to the inn's entrance. The Skydancer there seemed startled to see them.

31515368p.png

"Goodness! Were the two of you lost in the woods this whole time?"
Gariela quickly explained their situation.

31515368p.png
"Oh, dear. It's good that you realize the illusions in the woods before you headed deeper into the trees. We've seen some dragons who hadn't known any better go in dispute the dangers, and they weren't ever found again. The Starwood trees may look enchanted, but they're a certain danger to them, as well. But I won't keep you here for long. Please, come in. I'll get you both settled into the inn!"

20-3-2019
Gabriela was quick to notice the enchanted nature of the walls and floors of the inn- It was unnoticeable, if one did not pay attention to it, but Gabriela realized that the wooden tiles of the walls and floors would shimmer with a strange light when dragons walked past or on it. The imperial was intrigued- Someone had enchanted these wooden tiles to give off light when they feel movement, but who? And why? And how?

Gabriela continued pondering on these questions for the majority of the day.

21-3-2019
Making a turn at one of the corridors, Gabriela and Dover found themselves at the Healing Ward of the inn, and Gabriela recognized the dragon inside as the Skydancer who had greeted them at the gate.

31515368p.png

"Oh, goodness! Is everything alright? Did something happen? Where does it hurt?"
It took a while for Gabriela to explain that neither of them were hurt, and they had just wandered into her office by chance. Canary sighed in relief.

31515368p.png

"Phew! That's a relief- You gave me quite a scare, don't you know?"
Gabriela explained that she hadn't meant to worry her, but knowing that the Skydancer was one of the caretakers of the inn, Gabriela decided to ask about the strange enchantments that were on the wooden floors and walls of the inn.

31515368p.png

"Oh, we've had quite a few dragons take quite an interest in those enchantments. If you want to know more, you should probably talk to Lady Lana. She's the one who put them there in the first place!"

Lana?

22-3-2019
Gabriela started asking around the inn for a dragon named Lana. Most of the other residents of the inn appeared to recognize the name, though none could give her a concrete location of where the Guardian dragoness was.

30747937p.png

"...Excuse me? I couldn't help but overhear you- Are you looking for the Inn Keeper, Lana?"
So Lana was the Inn Keeper! Gabriela quickly nodded and asked if he could tell her where she was.

30747937p.png

"Well... You won't have much luck finding her in the gardens... She tends to keep the company of old books and dubious relics. I suggest you try to inn's archive. That's one of her favorite places to linger, when she's not going over the administrative work needed for the inn."
Gabriela thanked the Guardian and quickly continued on her way.

23-3-2019
Gabriela found the Inn Keeper where the other Guardian dragon said she would be; In the archives, mulling over some records. She seemed to be mumbling something to herself. The Guardian took note of Gabriela the moment she stepped through the doorway.

30751365p.png

“Hm? A new visitor? I don’t recall seeing you before. Is something the matter?”
It was nothing serious, but Gabriela quickly explained that she was quite interested in the charms placed onto the wooden tiles that made up the inn- How did she do it? The Guardian just brushed it off.

30751365p.png

“Oh, that little thing? The trees in Starwood Strand already have those properties- I’ve merely placed a charm that preserves that part of their property, even after they’ve been made into planks. It’s quite the stunning effect, no?”
Gabriela was already imagining what other things she could use the charm for, if she knew it. Stunning didn’t even begin to cover it.

24-3-2019
Gabriela had gone in search for the Inn Keeper once more- She was very intrigued by the Guardian’s use of charms, and was curious as to what other enchantments Lana might know. The Imperial found her just as she was stepping out of the archives. This time, the Guardian appeared to recognize her.

30751365p.png

“Oh… Gabriela, was it? To what do I owe the pleasure?”
The Imperial quickly explained that she was just curious- What other spells did Lana know? And what can they do? Lana did not seem to mind her enthusiasm.

30751365p.png

“Well… I suppose I can tell you about some of the less complicated ones. Explaining those would take too long, and I can show you more of the simpler ones in the same amount of time. Come, follow me.”

25-3-2019
Gabriela was familiar with most of the spells Lana had decided to show her; she had plenty of time to practise such magic, though the spell that ended up intriguing Gabriela the most was the spell the Guardian had used to bend the light into the shape she so choose, turning it into a small, luminous butterfly. The Imperial nearly jumped up in excitement- How was it done? She had to know!

30751365p.png

“It is but a simple trick of the light. Most are so blinded by the preconceived notion that the light must reveal the truth that they do not consider the light can also play tricks… Perhaps even more so than that of shadows.”
With a small huff, the Guardian dissipated the butterfly.

30751365p.png

“Alright. Here’s how the spell is cast…”

26-3-2019
To Gabriela’s surprise and delight, Lana was quite well-versed in illusions and trickery; She liked making dragons perceive things that weren’t there, and think truth of what non-existent things. To another dragon, it might have been somewhat worrying that Lana had several spellbooks that she’d written herself, all depicting different ways how one can fool another dragon, but Gabriela was more intrigued than anything by it. She couldn’t stop thinking about the many different ways she could play harmless little pranks on other dragons using all these tricks.

...Though, Gabriela was a bit curious as to why Lana had such an extensive library on illusions and trickery- From the Imperial’s own experience, most dragons prefered practical magic over small tricks and illusions. Gabriela didn’t want to judge, but the Guardian seemed a bit too serious to consider such magic… Perhaps there might be another reason?

Gabriela made a mental note to ask Lana about that later.

27-3-2019
Lana was showing Gabriela a trick to alter the reflected images on mirrors when the Imperial found the opportunity to ask the question at the back of her mind- How did Lana know all of these illusionist tricks? Did she just so happen to like playing tricks on other dragons as well?

30751365p.png

“Oh… Half and half, really. I do enjoy the confused looks Yukro gives me when he can’t see past my illusions, but they also served a rather practical purpose in my previous job. Illusions came in handy quite a bit when trying to deceive or demoralize your enemies.”
Previous job? Illusions for practical use? Demoralizing enemies?

30751365p.png

“I might tell you about that later… For now, I need to go back to the archives. Here, you can use this to practise, if you want.”

28-3-2019
Lana seemed relatively unpreoccupied with work the next day, so Gabriela asked the Guardian about her previous occupation once more- What kind of job did she had that had practical use for illusions as the Guardian had claimed?

30751365p.png

“Oh- You’re still hung up about that? It’s nothing, really. I just used to be a war tactician before my life at the inn. I provide insights and strategies to the generals who were sometimes too daft to see them, even when they were just there in plain sight. Quite annoying, actually.”
A war tactician? What would a war tactician need illusions for? Lana had a strange grin on her expression.

30751365p.png

“Oh… You’d be quite surprised by how effective tricks of illusions are in war. Especially when the enemy isn’t expecting it…”

29-3-2019
Gabriela was still wondering what sorts of illusions Lana thought would be useful during war. What could you do by tricking a dragon to see butterflies when there were none?

30751365p.png

“Perhaps not so much on using light to create butterflies. But, suppose you can bend the mist to your will? You could fool dragons into seeing something that, perhaps, was not there…?”
Gabriela tilted her head, confused. It almost sounded like Lana was speaking from experience.

30751365p.png

“Oh, this is one that I think about all the time. You should have seen Yukro’s face when he realized what happened…”

30-3-2019
Gabriela listened, curious and intrigued as Lana started to recount her tale; Apparently, the Guardian had led the charge into the enemy camp. As Lana’s troops were traveling over water, the Guardian had bended the mist to her will, creating the illusion that the size of the invading army was much, much greater than it actually was. The sight alone had been enough to through the opposition army into total chaos as they scrambled to get their troops ready for confrontation…

A confrontation that they realized a bit too late that was merely a trick played by the Guardian female. Among the comotion, Lana had managed to lead the small group of her men into the enemy stockades and ransacked the entire place of its supply and weaponry, before quickly retreating back into the safety of the mist.

30751365p.png

“You should’ve seen the look on Yukro’s face… He was the one who issued me that challenge. He thought there was no possible way it could be done… Heh! How wrong he turned out to be!”
Gabriela nodded along, though the Imperial was more surprised that there was such a use for illusions after all! Well, she wouldn’t want to use it to hurt other dragons intentionally, but she could definitely think of several more… practical uses for her tricks now.

31-3-2019
Lana seemed a bit more excited than she usually was today- Well, at least to Gabriela’s knowledge within the time she had gotten to known the Guardian. Curious, she asked if there was anything in particular going on.

30751365p.png

“Well, it’s not really anything special, per say… But all that talking has me reminiscing about the past, and… Hm. Gabriela, how do you feel about helping me prank a certain someone in the inn?”
Pranking someone? This was something Gabriela could get behind!

1-4-2019
Gabriela followed Lana into the woods early the next morning. The Guardian warned her to stay close before they left; They were not heading too far away from the inn, but if they should stray too far from the path, they would end up getting lost and unable to find their way back.

30751365p.png

“When he comes, we’ll spring our trap… Right here.”
Lana motioned to a patch in the woods that was somewhat conspicuously open. The Guardian then laughed to herself.

30751365p.png

“He’s in for such a scare… Ha! I can’t wait to see it!”

2-4-2019
Gabriela never expected Lana to have a playful side to her- The Guardian just seemed so serious about the way she went about things that Gabriela drew the conclusion the the Inn Keeper must have been serious and stern by nature.

Right now, however… The Inn Keeper was waiting with barely contained excitement for another dragon to walk into her trap.

30751365p.png

“...Ah! Here he comes! Spring the trap!”
With a twirl of her claw, Gabriela activated the spell Lana had carefully set moments prior. The illusion sprang to life, and chaos ensued mere seconds later.

3-4-2019
Gabriella did feel a bit guilty, but to her defense, the Imperial did not know that Yukro would be accompanied by Dover when she and Lana had set the trap. Gabriella had caught sight of the other Imperial a bit too late, long after she had activated the spell. As a result, the makeshift Abyess Striker had lunged towards Dover instead of its intended target.

As least Dover had kept her wits about her and had been quick to react, striking the image of the eel with a swift kick and dissipating the illusion. Even so, Dover was less than excited about being tricked like that.

30751365p.png

“I’m so sorry about scaring you… I did not expect anyone to come looking in the woods other than Yukro- Here, please take these as an apology- I’ve caused you both enough trouble as it is.”

4-4-2019
As the group headed back towards the inn, Dover had asked Gabriela what she had been up to the past several days. That was fair- Gabriela had been so caught up about the happenings of the inn that she just realized it had been a while since the two of them talked. With a smile, the Imperial told Dover about the illusionist tricks Lana had been telling her about, and some of the stories the Inn Keeper ended up telling her about her past as a war tactician.

Dover didn’t comment much on the stories, though she seemed relatively pleased that Gabriela had been doing fine during the few days they had been apart.

5-4-2019
Gabriela spent the next day with Dover, the two Imperials lingering underneath the small willow tree in the center of the inn. She was excited to show all of the little tricks Lana had told her about to the other dragon. In turn, Gabriela also asked Dover what she had been up to while she and Lana had been sharing these spells with each other.

Apparently, Dover had spent the past several days with Yukro; Gabriela only really knew him as the dragon Lana liked to prank, but as it turns out, he was a war tactician, like Lana had been. From what dover had told her, the two Guardians had met in the midst of war.

Aww… That was kind of romantic.

6-4-2019
It was only when Dover mentioned that they had been at the inn for quite a while now that Gabriela realized the same. That made the Imperial rather anxious- The caretakers of the inn had warned them about leaving the inn too soon, as any attempts at doing so would lead to them getting lost in Starwood Strand forever, but, at the same time, when would they know if they were able to leave?

Gabriela hoped it was soon; As much as she enjoyed her time here, she did want to return to the outside world sometime soon.

7-4-2019
Gabriela followed Dover to the inn’s entrance. She spotted both Lana and Yukro standing near the front gate. The two Guardians seemed preoccupied watching something outside of the inn. Dover asked them what it was.

30751365p.png

“The leaves of the trees are retreating. Sunlight is shining through from above.”
Gabriela looked to where Lana was motioning towards. Indeed, the light from the sun is beaming through the trees, causing the surrounding mist to retreat and dissipate. But what did that mean?

30751365p.png

“Your paths have been cleared- It is time for your departure now.”
Though surprised, Gabriela quickly nodded. Though she had a nice time here, she knew that it was about time she and Dover left. Lana looked towards her.

30751365p.png

“You were a delight to have, Gabriela. I wish you well on any of your future endeavors. Please take this as my parting gift to you.”
Once Gabriela had accepted the gift from Lana, she turned towards the inn’s entrance and followed Dover pass the front gate, the mist quickly swallowing the path from which they came from once they had left. It did not take them long at all to find their way out from Starwood Strand, and as Gabriela looked back, she noticed that the leaves of the trees were glimmering with strange enchantments- They would not be able to find their way back, even if they wanted to.

Well… It was nice, while it lasted. There was little to do other than to find their way back home now.
