Archaea remembers every bit of her life- she remembers being a leader, a mother, a warrior, a brutal warlord who was loved and feared and respected above all. She remembers her family, her people, her enemies. She remembers the victory of winning wars, the sorrow of losing battles, the crushing pain of losing friends. She remembers a time long, long ago, full of creatures that no longer walk the earth. She remembers songs that are no longer sung, stories that died with their speakers, entire languages lost to time. She remembers exactly how she came to be buried deep underground. Every bit of it.

'Archaea' was originally the nickname given to the dig site where she was found. It was fascinating, so well preserved- a burial site, with ritual gifts of weapons, food, and jewels. Items only given to royalty, but in an unmarked grave, no elaborate tomb. And in the center, a skeleton. Not old enough to be a fossil, but still very, very old. Anning was the first to find the site, the first to break earth and let sunlight fall on those old bones.

Archaea had never expected to see the sun again. She was dead, after all, her grave long forgotten. But then, Anning arrived. Anning found her, and showed her the sun. Neither are certain what force woke her up, but wake up she did. Gave Anning quite a fright at the time. She's not the same, of course- earth now fills the spaces between her bones, the strength of her spirit binding stone and clay to the shape of what once was.

She was always a proud dragon. That pride has shifted, from the serene courage of a warrior queen to the mildly confused smugness of the most valuable archaeological find of the last century, possibly of all time. She is slowly adjusting to a very different time, one far more peaceful than her own. Now, she works alongside her hero, Anning, accompanying her on digs or standing guard at the museum. Sometime she does interviews with fascinated scholars. She likes playing tricks on them, but doesn't realize how terrifying that can be.
