Even her simple colouration was a disgrace to her community. Her dark form seemed to remind the other hatchlings of the Shadowbinder, who would 'take them into her dark woods where they would never be seen again'. They found this especially frightening when she approached them during the night, usually running away screaming of an evil demon who would devour their souls and leave their bodies on their parent's doorsteps. The colour of her wings was like blood, and the elders gossiped about how Ankila's father must have killed so many unfortunate souls that their pain and suffering had marked his daughter as revenge. But it was not her wings nor her colouration that her village utterly despised. It was her eyes. Her eyes, the mark of the shadows, the mark of the trickster, the mark of her father, a dragon exalted to the Shadowbinder only to fall in love with Ankila's mother, who now hated and despised her daughter even more than most of the village. The dark purple of the flight that had almost killed the Chieftain's son, the likes of which now remained scarred for life with terrible wounds. And Ankila's village hated her for this, for a crime she did not commit yet carried with her like the crimson shade of her wings. |

She was always bullied when she was younger, yet she took it with a proud gleam in her eye. However, those bullies eventually found a way to truly torture her, to ground her so she could not fly away like any dragon loves doing. They cuffed her wings. As she was wandering around the village, she was knocked to a side by a large brute. He pinned her down as his associate, a gruff-looking fae, clawed her way up her back and snapped the cuffs shut. Pain shot through Ankila as she dimly felt chains being clapped over her wings, restraining her movements. When it stopped, she looked around and saw herself being surrounded by a gang of thugs, as well as many of the dragons in her village. They all jeered at her confusion and came in closer, teeth bared. It was then that Ankila finally made her stand. As a last resort, she sucked in a great gust of air and blew. The violet flames swirled around her as the villagers stepped back in horror and drastic realisation as their homes caught fire. Ankila ran, ran as fast as she could go, and only looked back once. When she looked back, all she could see was her mother, fangs bared in fury. Although she had no where to go, Ankila found a living by stealing and procuring treasures by day, while following the darkest shadows at night. When she finally found the Tangled Wood, she settled in Driftwood Drag and started to create a lair. It was there she met Porole... She will not tell any the name of her parents. She has rejected them, for they never truly loved her. |

In the Tribe of Shrouded Stars, it is not uncommon to discover a true familiar - a creature that understands you better than yourself, irreplaceable in their companionship. No matter what familiars the dragon may currently have, this familiar is the unparalleled counterpart to one's soul. Ankila's true familiar is a Firemane Manticore, who goes by the name of Sakai.
