Belfrey is the only child of a nomadic mirror pair who left their desolate homeland to see what the world had to offer. They were tired of the violence that came with living in all-mirror pack, and they didn't want their son to learn those kinds of behaviors. He was carried on his father's back for most of his time as an egg and a young hatchling. His parents were young and knew nothing about the lands that they were exploring. His father became extremely ill after eating a poisonous berry bush, and his mother set out to find help, leaving Belfrey and his father alone. She never returned. His father's illness due to the poisonous berry prompted Belfrey to learn all he could about plants and insects, specifically which were harmful and which were safe, and he visited many libraries while caring for his father. This research lead him to investigating herbs that could manage pain and treat illness, either by ingestion or topical application. This kept the young adult busy while he cared for his father and waited for his mother to return.
But after several months, his father was still not improving. Afraid, Belfrey helped his father reach the edge of the tangled woods. There he met Ramalama, the earthbound fae. She fetched Roots and Burst, who helped Belfrey's father recover. There was a relationship quickly forming between Rama and Belfrey. Shortly after he recovered, Belfrey's father set out to find his mate, certain she was still alive and looking for them. He insisted that Belfrey stay with his own mate. Belfrey only hopes that his parents are safe, and will return to meet their grandchildren.
Belfrey is gentle to a fault. Living with only his parents, he never learned the inherent aggression many mirrors have. He was shocked to learn that many of his friend's lives had been changed through violent mirrors. Belfrey is often to be found with hatchlings, teaching them about the world around them, ranging from the seasons to plants to insects to the best hunting techniques. He also is well known for loving to carry disabled dragons, namely his mate Rama, when she gets tired. He has also been spotted carrying Believer on her bad pain days. Knowing dragons with chronic pain has made him even more interested in what kinds of things can be done to manage pain. He has no interest in becoming a healer, he enjoys working with Thirteen to supply the healers with useful medicines.
