The first words he heard came from a dragon.
“I certainly didn’t expect that to happen...”
She was slightly larger than he was, but a glance at himself revealed they were of the same species. She gave what he could only call a smile.
“What kind of intelligence do you have?”
He tilted his head.
“Right, forget that. You’ve only existed for two minutes, you don’t know anything.”
Her wings fluffed out and she adjusted the large hat on her head.
“I’m called Witch. And I think I’ll name you...hmm...”
He blinked once. A flicker of a thought crossed his mind, so brief and forgettable that he almost missed it. But he caught it.
He spoke, and her eyes widened.
“My name is Castor.”
