Arietis

Years ago, a tinkerer showed up unannounced in the clan. He booked a room at the nearby inn, and spent days on end locked in the room, only coming out for food. The hatchlings grew curious, and spread rumors about him, saying that looking through the keyhole of his room would cause the onlooker to suddenly die.

One young hatchling, Arietis, took it upon herself to prove them wrong. She slowly crept through the hallway until she was face to face with the door. She leaned forward and pressed her eye to the keyhole, but couldn't see anything in the dark room.

Suddenly, a light flashed, blinding her. She fell unconscious, and woke up days later in the middle of the very room she was trying to see. She couldn't see, but she felt metal all around her face and down her spine. She managed to stumble out of the inn and found her parents, but by then the tinkerer was long gone, and the effects of that day seem to be permanent.
