Static

Static's name, should one ever get the chance to learn it, is remarkably misleading.
Spirals are well known for never keeping still, and Static is an extreme and unique example.
Although he rarely speaks, he still loves attention.
Well.
Perhaps "loves" isn't the right word.
"Craves", would be a little more accurate.
Either way, he is always quite... "in your face".
Dancing, flickering, circling, a silent and shifting pattern of black-and-whites.
And he is always just... watching.

A dragon that first meets Static may at first find it normal.
"Perhaps he's shy," they might say, "and I'll begin to see more of him as he gets used to me."
"Perhaps he just wants to learn about me for a while."
But the dragon that stays around him for too long would quickly find this is not the case.
Static never speaks unless he is directly asked a question, and even then it sounds forced.
As if he has no voice of his own, merely parroting back fragments of noise that sound like words.

And no matter what, he still just... watches.
From above, from behind, from curled up in a bundle in the corner of a room...
Once he has chosen to set his eyes on a particular dragon -- or would "victim" be more appropriate..? -- they never move until he has found another to focus on.
Never talks, never sleeps, never eats or drinks... and yet he never seems to need to.
He is just there.
Watching.
As if waiting.
Until all his victim can see are fireflies and the dancing of black and white in their dreams.

Because even there, Static is watching.
He must be.
Why wouldn't he be?
Static is everywhere.
Static isn't really a dragon, he can't be. No dragon can be everywhere at once.
He must be a figment of the imagination.
That is the only explanation.

But that only leaves questions.
If Static is indeed not real...
Why do so many dragons claim to have seen him, the lucky ones to escape?
Why do his victims keep going missing, never to be found?
And most importantly...

Who is that dragon watching you, in the corner?
