But he lost his workshop during a dominance fight. Water and Fire clashed, causing the delicately capped magma spouts to open and flood his cave. He lost everything to the lava which angered him deeply. All this fighting and for what? Scraps of land or coin? While those not fighting suffer? He ended the fight near his ruined home while lost in thought, he came to at a pained quail as a Water dragon dragged her burned body to the tidepools. His anger faded as horror swept in, he had caused her such pain because of his anger. He approached her and carefully lowered her into the water, apologizing profusely for the injury he caused. The small PearlCatcher soaked in the water and used her magic to heal herself. Her eyes glowed and she uttered a prophecy to him. Young Artemis you are not to fight but to calm the storm. This land can not be your home as your heart doesn't beat to the fire within. The lands of snow and ice will be where your head rests. He believed her words and for many years he had taken journeys between the two domains to learn and decide. Rumors spread quickly of the Icy Fire Dragon as his trips home became less frequent. He was older now and wiser, his words had quelled wars and fights in both lands. And as the young PearlCatcher foresaw on that fateful day he chose the icelands as his true home. He waited for many years for a dragon to enlist his help with their clan til a beautiful Guardian happened upon his cave. Her name was Jewel and she wished for him to join her very small family. He accepted and the rest lays in the clan.

I remember my journey here, the last trip I had taken from my homeland. The Forge was exceptionally busy that day. I believe a large clan requested armor to aid in a fight against an encroaching Beastclan. The sky was clear and the wind in my favor when I gave the land one last sweeping glance before taking to the sky. I had flown this way many times, I knew where I was heading. The storms that turned icy barely bothered me as the ice would melt off easily. Makes flying in blizzards less of a challenge. I landed at a cave I had been calling home, it is far outside our territory so don't go looking for it. I lived and waited in there for years, going to different clans to dispel fights. I had made a reputation for myself for being a mediator. Jewel sought me out on a particularly bad day, a massive hailstorm was pelting the mountain but she still found me. I don't know why I felt a draw to her and her plea. But I agreed to join her and the tiny clan she had founded. I believe Jaden, Runewing and Theia were all hatchlings when I came. They found my size perfect to play on. I don't regret leaving the Waste, in fact I have felt like I have lived more here than out there. I have a grand family and mate. Though I wish I could have thanked that little PearlCatcher, I never found her after that fight. I feared my attack had killed her but no, she retreated into the water and became a doctor as she found the fighting as pointless as I had. I was able to meet a few of her young ones, so precious they were. |

Artemis was as cold and calm as the ice he loved. He saw all things from an objective standpoint. Sometimes that was all dragons or beasts needed to calm their fighting and feuds. They got so swept up in their feelings that they failed to remember that not everything was about hurt feelings. They were like the dragons he had left behind in the Forge. So he valued his sometimes robotic level headedness. Even when others did not, he remembered the danger of overacting and refusing to listen to logic.
