...Background;
. ...Humble beginnings; . Ananke was hatched in a small, tightknit clan populated primarily by other tundras who followed a nomadic lifestyle. Food is scarce in the scarred wasteland. It is something that can only be searched for, not cultivated. . ...Boiling over; . xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |
Crunch. The sparrow skull had cracked with little resistance under the weight of her paws. It's flesh was long gone, rotted away by time and the humid climate. Even if she ate meat, it would make a poor snack. It didn't mean she couldn't have a bit of fun with it, though. Ananke gave a small growl and rolled down onto the ground, gripping the bones between her forelegs. Her new set of teeth had just come in and left her mouth sore and itching to chew. Finally she- Huh? Her playtime had been suddenly interrupted by the smell of another dragon. Ananke flattened her ears. It was a strange smell. Not-friend. It was hard to see at this time, the moon had risen hours ago. Ananke and her clan had adjusted to living nocturnally. Travelling was horrid during the afternoon heat, even with their summer coats cropped short. She inhaled again, trying to pinpoint the stranger's location. They were a couple wingspans ahead. Ananke stalked forward. "Hey!" No reply. "Hey, you!" This time, she heard scuffling. A couple heartbeats later, the intruding dragon stepped into the moonlight. It was a young Imperial. While likely her age, they still dwarfed her. Ananke bristled. She didn't see many imperials, as the massive dragons preferred to be active in the daylight hours. A remnant of their Light heritage. What was one doing here? The Imperial shuffled from paw to paw. "I saw you were playing, could I join?" "Who... are you?" "Oh...Sorry..." The Imperial drooped their head. "I got so excited, I forgot to say my name first..." They looked up again, eyes shining with anticipation. "I'm Lilith! Can I play with you?" Ananke's suspicion waned. This dragon didn't seem like she wanted to hurt her, and she HAD been wishing for a friend lately. "Ok!" |
