icon_profilecomment.png STORY ⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤

Bloodied bone is their emblem and the foundation of their livelihood, a solid but slippery pedestal from which to rise above or tumble below. Here are the offspring a blessing and a curse. Their first breath holds a promise and it is this: that fortune is a meager shackle. The ultimate liberation is found in sweat and tears and dirt under nails and hands worked to the bone. Their parents take the promise and nurture it into truth. Leona does not mention the curse she passes down to them. Moros keeps his lineage a secret and in their ignorance the children do not notice their blessings. They are dirty, grimy, and sweaty children, but they are free.

Their skin is as coarse as the wasteland surrounding them, their bumpy, sandpaper hide interrupted by the unmistakable shine of membrane-covered bone. The bonerender children are capable of controlling the growth of their bones, wielding their whole bodies as weapon and shield. There is a significant caveat: the more bone tissue they build up and break down using this power, the shorter their lifespans become. The warnings signs range from brittle bones to uncontrollable ossification of other body parts.

Because of the tricky nature of their condition, they are raised within the Bone Castle for longer than most of their comrades. Their parents do most of the work of raising them, showing them how to survive in the underbelly of Bone Castle society, where competition is fierce and lives are cheap. It's only when they understand the nature of their abilities as a double-edged sword that their parents allow them to leave on their own.

icon_forumping.png TRAITS ⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤

Below are a few traits common to the Bonerender children. These traits are not invariable, and although they are present in most of them, there are always exceptions. Hosts are free to apply them at their will.

Bonerenders are what they are called, for their ability to grow, shape, and break down their own bone tissue. The ground rules for this power tend to vary; usually, it only works if the bone is still connected to their bodies. Additionally, overuse will significantly reduce their lifespan. There are countless symptoms of overuse, both magical and physical.

Most of them leave their parents at the dragon-equivalent of their early teens. It's at this point that their parents believe them to be responsible enough to manage their gifts and its consequences. Castle born and Castle raised, they are proud and tough.

Generally, they are blind to their ancestry. Moros says little about his life before the Castle. Leona has little to say about hers. Both parents prefer it this way, and would rather allow their children to find their own path.

⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤NOTES⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤⏤
The first clutch. The eldest mothers the younger two. They grow up close, but eventually split up to find their own paths.

The first-born. Something is unique about him. It's not just his bones that he can mend, but the bones and flesh of others. A healer, and an anomaly.
