You would have to be some kind of expert on the Fae Court to recognize Gardera as royalty. His style is an unrefined mix of anything he finds interesting. Finally free from the restraining rigidity of being a prince, Gardera is finally free to do things in a fashion all his own. He has made great strides since first coming to the Glade; no longer always beholden to his guilt and the expectations of his former kin. He still hasn't found a path forward that is entirely his own, but is content with his situation. Maybe one day he will feel called to move forward and right some of the wrongs of his past... maybe...

origins.

Gardera was born a Fae prince. He was groomed his entire childhood to become the quintessential leader the Fae wanted him to be. A cookie-cutter version of the same royalty that had reigned for centuries. He tried, for a long time. He sat dutifully in lectures on history and tactics. He read the ancient texts and practiced subtle manipulative magicks. He really thought it was something he wanted too, until his 101st birthday, on which he was to be married. He made it all the way to the alter, beads of sweat gathering on his forehead. He could see her dress rounding the corner, but looked away before he saw her face. He closed his eyes tightly and willed his body to disappear and reappear as far away as he could.

He didn't have much time. No doubt his family knew where he went, back to his chambers, his only private space. He threw the bare necessities in a bag, or at least what he thought was necessary at the time. Why he thought a porcelain tea set was necessary is an unanswered question. He was pitifully unprepared for the journey ahead of him. All his training had been to be a leader, not a survivor. It was a godsend that he met a Skydancer called Aurorian, who was traveling to meet her cousin. They made their way to The Moontouched Glade.

Stepping into the Glade is different for everyone their first time. For Gardera it crystallized his thoughts into a burning clarity. He had lived his whole life among the Fae Court, and was accustomed to twisted words and appearances. He had grown used to seeing things in a certain way, and it was shattered when he came here. Almost instantly he let guilt seep in. He had left his betrothed, a lady of the court whom he had never met, alone on their wedding day. He had most likely disappointed his family, and done irreparable damage to that path through life.
