Children of Ylva and Fenrir are undoubtedly touched by the shade, despite their parent’s efforts to hide them from it. Children born with Fenrir’s protruding spines are under the shade’s control, and their parents work quickly to find something to bind them and keep the shade subdued. Children born with Ylva’s runes are in control of the shade within them, and while they do quickly strike out on their own, they are able to fend for themselves and live a relatively normal life.

______ Miyako is the third born child of Fenrir and Ylva. Miyako is also the youngest of their first clutch. Miyako has a shy and timid nature. With the focus being mostly on her sisters as she grew up, Miyako has grown into a dragon not used to being the centre of attention. Miyako is loyal to a fault, despite her runes she’d abandon herself to the shade if it were demanded, she would do mostly anything for a dragon that she loved. However, at heart, Miyako is simply a dragon who wishes to be loved and be happy.

______ The only shadetouched dragon in the clan, and the youngest at that, Miyako wrapped each even-slightly maternal dragon of the fever dreamers around her tiny claws. It was pity at first, but it turned into real warmth as she began to adapt to Plague's harsh lifestyle, her gilded eyes close to the same sickly shade of the necromancer Minerva's worst poison. She could be wicked and lovable and apathetic all at once. She never quite grew up, either. She certainly grew out of temper tantrums, which were more dangerous for the other dragons around her, shade leaking and runes hovering like flies on the dead; though very rare. Miyako grew much more stable, however, under the watchful eye of the clan. The dragon immune to her charm was the founder's wife, Malory, who always kept a subtle grip over her activities, despite Miyako's growth and her proven loyalty. It made Miyako confused, and a little angry, whenever Malory's doubt showed through her cool exterior. But she only worked harder, even if she couldn't stick to one job in the clan, in order to gain Malory's trust. She had no idea what she'd done to make the powerful fever dreamer dislike her. Perhaps it was her persistently naive hatchling-like nature, or the shade that paced inside her soul, behind her Light eyes, or something else that couldn't be named.
