Calypso

Calypso was born to a fitting regal family, considering his handsome looks and arrogant nature. As a healer mage accompanying Astra and Ruskalya on their coli rounds, Calypso tends to be sought after for missions due to his skill, though many could do without his arrogance. He holds his bloodline in high esteem and can become snobbish to those not prepared for this, though will slip into pouty tantrums when events turn sour--that is to say, don’t do what he wants. Despite this, Calypso is a flirtatious dragon to those in the Tangled Woods, finding many short-term lovers and one-night stands with locals, regardless of gender.

Luckily for him, he has extremely understanding mates that stick by his side, despite his short-term love pursuits. Felix--a mild-mannered bogsneak--acts as a voice of reason for Calypso when he starts slipping into a tantrum, having first fallen for his heart-throbbing looks and staying for a diamond-in-the-rough personality. Astra and Ruskalya, the clans resident warriors, took a keen interest in him as well. The pair letting him accompany them on ventures beyond the tangled wood and whipping him into shape as a capable Mage, falling for his smooth charm. (Though being a bit annoyed when he would slip off to chase a new, exotic fling in the middle of their journeys)

Though Calypso now lives a relatively carefree life--aside from his work in the coliseum--he was once plagued with secrets and earned a bloody past. When he was born to a pristine heritage, Calypso was automatically entrenched into a world of high stakes competition, earning him many enemies just by breathing. When his parents received threats on his life by an anonymous assassin, they sent Calypso away with the minimal number of supplies, hoping he could escape with his life. As he was still very young at the time, Calypso was understandably afraid of the quick push out of his home, flinging him into a panic. He flew as quick as he could without care for secrecy, unsure of where he was to go or who he would live with.

One night, while he was sleeping on the side of the road, Calypso was ambushed by a group of assassins. The burned his supplies and the area around him, taunting and poking at the young imperial while he struggled to escape, and stalking him like prey once he had. Convinced he was going to die here, Calypso almost gave up and accepted defeat. However, before he could turn and make the final leap to death a cloaked figure saved him. It was a large guardian, her dark scales cloaked in a purpleish black cloth, her claws reinforced with glinting steel. This unknown ally lunged at the assassins, fending them off best she could while Calypso escaped completely, finding a quiet hovel to curl up in.

Not long after, this guardian reappeared and quietly encouraged the young dragon to come with her, covering his shivering scales with her now clean cloak. She quietly introduced herself as Zegami, a mage and necromancer that patrols these lands. While she never had the luxury of a home with parents, she knew a dragon in need when she saw one, and Calypso fit that bill exactly. Zegami offered her assistance to the young imperial, somewhere where he could disappear and leave the assassins behind and establish a new life.

Calypso, cautious but desperate, accepted the offer after only a short consideration period, eager to leave the danger behind. The first step to this was to abandon all his old ties, which meant cutting ties with his parents, old friends, brothers, and sisters. Though this felt difficult, in reality Calypso had not seen his relatives in some time anyway, so abandoning the thought of them was easier than expected. He then had to learn to disappear, cloaking himself in the same darkness as Zegami did, travel the Tangled Woods without aim. Eventually, he split from the guardian, abandoning his veil and alias, instead returning to his old name and settling in a clan that offered sanctuary and anonymity. While the assassins had been discovered and dealt with during his adventures, Calypso has always kept a watchful eye for their return as a precaution, while Zegami works to keep him safe from afar.
