Biography
╭━━━━━━━━╮ C O N N O R Droid Detective ╰━━━━━━━━╯ |
╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮
"My name is Connor. I'm the andorid sent by Cyberlife." ╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯ Deep within the heart of the Shifting Expanse, working out of the Tempest Spire itself, is a company known as Cyberlife. Their purpose is to build droids - complex machines that look and behave exactly like dragons. These droids are meant to be completely obedient, doing whatever their dragon masters order them to do and keeping them safe at all costs. The Lightning Flight benefits greatly from these automatons, as they bolster the workforce and the Stormcatcher's army. However, in creating the most advanced AI they could, Cyberlife created an unforseen problem - some of these droids have begun to break their programming, gaining free will and the ability to experience emotions. These "deviants", as they are called. represent a great threat to Cyberlife - and possibly the Lightning Flight as a whole. Connor was built to hunt and capture these deviants, to be returned to the Tempest Spire and taken apart to look for errors in their programming. Created to be skilled in negotiation, martial arts, and tracking, Connor was the perfect machine for the job - there was only one problem. Being a droid himself, Connor could not act alone, as the general public needed to be reassured that he was still under dragon control. To this end, Connor was sent to local law enforcement acting out of the Carrion Canyon, and assigned to the police lieutenant there - Hank. Connor's orders from Cyberlife were to ignore Hank as best he could and complete his mission at all costs. Hank, a droid-hating old Tundra, certainly wouldn't have minded if Connor kept his distance. All the same, as they worked together, Connor found himself not only going out of his way to appease Hank; he also risked his mission to save Hank's life... numerous times. With Cyberlife threatening to terminate and replace him for his lack of progress, Connor tried to double down on the mission. Hank, although willing to help Connor, was beginning to change his stance as they encountered more and more deviants; Connor knew he was starting to think the deviants were a sympathetic cause. Conflicted, Connor tried to complete his mission and end the deviant uprising... ...only to become deviant himself. Experiencing emotions he'd never felt before, and free of Cyberlife's orders, things became clear to Connor: Hank was his friend, and the deviants had a just cause. In a stunning act of bravery, Connor infiltrated the Tempest Spire one last time to convert hundreds of droids to deviancy. Cyberlife, aware of his betrayal, sent out a new Connor droid, who took Hank hostage by pretending to be the real Connor. When Connor had the option of converting the other droids or saving Hank's life, the choice was obvious. After a brutal fight between the two Connors, Hank gained the upper hand and threatened them both with an active rod of electricity. Connor, able to prove his identity by knowing several facts about Hank's personal life, won his life and the time to convert the other droids. With an army at his disposal, Connor marched to the Carrion Canyon to bolster the forces of the deviant revolution. Having gained the public's support through peaceful protest, the revolution finally won their right to freedom. In the wake of it all, Cyberlife has tried to find Connor again - his tracking device, like that of all other deviants, stopped working when he broke his programming. He has eluded them entirely, and many wonder if he has fled the Shifting Expanse altogether. If one were to visit Hank's lair, they may find a happy Skydancer peacefully going about a normal life, working as Hank's partner in law enforcement and quietly supporting the continued revolution. Of course, Cyberlife has no dealings with Hank; after all, he's just a droid-hating old Tundra.
