Kraken is a bit of a mystery; he didn't come to the clan to train for the exaltation, and it doesn't seem like he came with the hope of starting a nest. In fact, he hardly socializes with anyone, spending most of his time in a small cave offset from the rest of the grotto. The only dragon he seems to speak with is Caledonia, spending long hours in her lab, and no one is sure what they talk about--it seems he has sworn her to secrecy.

Even odder, no one has seen him without his thick cape and layers of wrappings, even on the warmest days. Just what exactly is he hiding?

Whatever Kraken and Caledonia were doing in her lab remained unknown, but the clan grew used to seeing Kraken in new colors (always recognizable beneath his heavy cloaks). Over time he grew to be more comfortable with a select few of the clan: Voriksha and Jubilance, who worked together to craft materials and make new cloaks for each of Kraken's changes of color; Fisher, the clan's messenger, who delivered treats from the clan's kitchens; and Palawen, who had built her nest in an alcove near his own.
