Seaside Keeper Lore:

Seaside Keepers are born when bonded Wavebreaker pairs nest in the sun-warmed sands nearest the Beacon of the Radiant Eye. Hatched among lustrous, iridescent shells, their unique patterning recalls the rippling of wind blown sand and the delicate ridging of the seashells they often collect. Their wings in turn are a grand yet delicate display—gently shifting chroma like shells beneath the breaking tide—glimmering and refracting the summer sky.

As hatchlings their wings are pliable, perfect for gliding yet easily broken. Hence they often seek refuge in ever-larger shells as they grow through adolescence. With time and a steady diet of seafood and sand shrubs, their wings toughen and most outgrow the need for a shell. Still, many keep them as a reminder that the beaches they now guard once guarded them.
