A quiet, reserved soul, Alani has never been especially outgoing. Her focus has always been an introspective one, centered on understanding herself before unraveling her relation to the world. From the moment she learned to read, she was always disappearing to the library, hiding herself among towers of scrolls until someone came to fetch her. She never wanted to leave, and soon enough, the library staff felt more like family and the shelves more like home than anywhere else.

As she grew, she tried to reach out again, and with some struggling, she reestablished some of the connection lost between herself and her parents during her hatchling years. There was a disconnect created by her young reluctance to socialize, and it took a long time to forge new, strong bonds. But it was done, with the secret help of some self-help scrolls, and now, Alani and her family have a much stronger relationship than previously.

But ultimately, Alani will probably never escape the library. She loves it too dearly to leave it, and more than one passing dragon has asked if she lives there, to which she just waves them on so she can finish her scroll in peace. There is comfort to be had in the knowledge of dragons who have come before her, and she knows without a doubt that she would give her life to protect such a thing from harm. It matters deeply to her, more than anything else in the world.
