Biography
In many ways, Bora lives a life of high honor. From the day she was taken from her birth-clan in one of the Order’s raids, she has been treated with reverence. This is largely due to her appearance and affinity for ice magic, for which she was declared an avatar of winter, sent by the Ones Apart to imbue future generations with divine blood. For this purpose, she was allowed to pick her own mate. She chose a male named Malphite, an Imperial whose reserved nature leaves her with plenty of space. The other dragons in the clan treat her with awe but dare not touch her, believing that to even accidentally harm her or sully her purity will bring about a frigid curse. |
When Bora first entered the clan, she thought herself lucky to be treated so well and spared from sacrifice. However, as the years worn on, Bora felt a growing resentment for the Order, one she deftly concealed. They were her captors and her jailers who tore her from her home and yet believed her to be a gift from their gods. Their hypocritical fawning disgusted her. In secret, she dabbled with the darker aspects of ice magic, hoping to create a way for herself to escape the Order’s captivity. After years of captivity, she finally succeeded in creating a spell powerful enough to free her. There was only one problem: a spell potent enough to liberate her was also potentially potent enough to kill her. Unwilling to risk her own life, Bora needed a willing test subject. Now, the Order's sacrificial nature worked to her advantage, providing an ample supply of doomed prisoners with nothing left to lose. She selected an Imperial named Siavash, his pure white coloring a mirror of her own, and made her offer. He agreed. The spell worked better than Bora could have hoped. Though permanently scarred by Bora's magic, Siavash now wielded corrupting powers that could disintegrate anything in his path. Together, he and Bora escaped the Order, eventually settling in a remote canyon on the border of the Shifting Expanse and the Sunbeam Ruins. The corruption plaguing Siavash's form prevented him from rejoining a clan, a fact that Bora felt responsible for. She thus decided to stay by his side, unwilling to leave him to an isolation of her own making. The two now reside peacefully in the canyon. Siavash uses his corrupted abilities to melt tunnels through the rock, creating passages and rooms that Siavash cools with ice magic, creating a refuge from the desert heat. They receive few visitors, as the Order tells frightening tales of the monster who lives in the canyon and the one he stole away to a grisly fate. Nonetheless, Bora and Siavash hope that their home might one day be a refuge to others fortunate enough to escape the Order's clutches.
