Calaveras in one word: restless. His adoptive parents, upon his hatching, hadn't been at all prepared for their precious son's incessant need to go. To move, to run, to fly. He had a tendency of disappearing for days at a time, something which his caretakers quickly tired of. His habit of bringing home bones did little to endear or redeem his odd behavior, because they didn't understand what he was.

He is a Portal, a dragon both blessed and cursed with the ability to help spirits cross to the other side. His restlessness stems from the pull of various souls requiring his assistance, often necessitating intricate ceremonies that leave his cave smelling oddly burnt. If the smell isn't inviting enough, he has a collection of bones that litter various alcoves in his cave, mementos of the spirits he's successfully aided, and each has a story attached, all of which are things Calaveras is willing to share to those willing to have an open mind.

As of yet, the only one who has been open and receptive to his stories is Citra, as they share a very uncommon bond: she somewhat exists outside of the constraints of time, while Calaveras has a deep appreciation for how very short of a commodity it can be. Oftentimes they can be found sitting in the middle of his small cove, him regaling what he learned of a particular soul as he helped it move on and her offering what she remembered of approximately the same time period.
