Biography
Lair Position: Head Chemical and Civil Engineer (See Crazy Alchemist)
Status: Foreign-Born Perma
Prism joined Travels Rest early in its development. In fact, Heilyn and Onyx might never have gotten the lair off the ground had the Bogsneak not appeared on their doorstep.
While the couple had located the hidden valley and found the cave that would become home, most of their time back then was spent hunting to find enough food. The area was strange to them, and they had to sample the available food carefully as some of it might have proven poisonous. Not to mention that outside of flood season seafood was practically nonexistent in the desert mesa territory.
Then Prism had appeared. Having left her previous lair over what she described as 'creative differences', the Bogsneak was hungry, dirty, and in dire need of sleep. Heilyn offered her what little food available and a bed to sleep in.
Everyone expected Prism to leave the next day. She'd after all spent much of the night muttering to herself and ignoring attempts at conversation. And, in fact, Prism did leave for a time. So that she could explore. She found an underground river system not too far from Travels Rest. Perfect for the gift she wanted to give Heilyn and Onyx for their kindness.
It had been this gift that had absorbed her thoughts so fully she'd failed to notice when others tried to talk to her. Building it proved a bit harder, but once she explained her plan, others at Travels Rest were more than happy to pitch in and dig the channel system that delivered water from river to a series of pools they carved at various levels of the lair and to the valley itself.
With these channels fish and seafood became readily available, water was there for the planting of crops (The pet project of Sandile. He wanted roses, Heilyn insisted on food crops. They agreed he'd do both). Animals flocked to the water source and that provided meat, more so when Facet domesticated some of the herds into a kind of free-range livestock.
With plenty of food to feed all the hungry mouths, the lair flourished. Which is why Heilyn and Onyx are so protective of Prism even when her desire to find 'better ways' go astray or her eccentricities lead to explosions. Still, these experiments of the brilliant Bogsneak, insane though many of them are (not to mention dangerous to anyone too near by when she's playing with the Cauldron she got from someone named Baldwin), are more often of great valuable to the clan than detrimental, and that along with her general distracted amiability have earned her the affection of most of the lair.
Fortunately for all involved, including any other hapless lairs she might wander to, Prism shows no desire to leave.
