ever since runes etched themselves into his sides one day, taisto has been bombarded with heaps of magical knowledge previously unknown to him. incantations, rituals—anything needed to complete a spell, really—he can recite the procedures for off the tip of his tongue. this has made him some sort of impromptu clan scholar; if dragons have questions relating to the arcane, they come to him. at this point he outclasses the actual arcane dragons in the clan in sheer knowledge, to their chagrin. when it comes to performing any of this magic, however, arcane dragons clearly have the upper hand; taisto has seemingly no ability to actually cast the spells he knows like the back of his hand.

er, well, that's kind of a bad analogy. the day taisto earned his inscriptions is the same day he spontaneously transformed into a spiral—clearly through no fault of his own. it's taken a lot of getting used to, and he's still not quite there yet. his infrared vision is gone, his body's disgustingly lanky and uncoordinated, and worst of all, he suddenly can't sit still enough to stalk any of his prey! his urge to fly, something he barely knows how to do in the first place, is like an unbearable itch he can't reach just yet, and to compensate he's been talking the ears off of all his companions (companions that, by the way, he didn't think he needed until just now).
