In the Ashfall Wastes, those born with special eyes are believed to have been touched by the Flamecaller herself, a sign of godly craftsmanship to be proudly displayed.

Sometimes, Sierra still hears the excitable chirping of his parents and relatives - their constant praise and admiration of him - but not because he had accomplished anything worthwhile, just that they believed him to be a sign of good fortune. As a child, he had soaked it all in, developing a personal self-image that would tower over the Pillar itself. But now, he quickly tires of the pedestal, of the lofty expectations that come with being the golden child.

However... there is some truth behind their words. For his eyes do see more than the average dragon does. Behind the smooth, reflective surface of his pupils lies the ability to divine disease and injury. Whether it's the smallest cut, or the most deadly of pathogens, Sierra can discern the issue with a single glance.

In his youth, it proved to be a fun parlor trick for family gatherings. He could tell that his Uncle had recently sprained his leg, or that his Grandmother had gotten into a scrap with some encroaching harpies.
