let one thing be clear: emrys cannot be trusted. yes, he can give you anything you want, but it will come at a great price. yes, he seems to know you better than anyone ever has, and he does, but he doesn’t want to help you, he wants to use you. emrys is a wish granter and a heart reader. he can look inside you and knows your greatest desires and deepest shames. he can grant your heart’s wishes, but he will always demand something great in return. you may think you hold the power because he can be summoned. but it’s all part of the con, you see. emrys finds and targets vulnerable yet powerful dragons, and reveals to them, in one way or another, the method to summon him. they do so, believing they’re holding the reigns of a powerful being. but emrys is no fool. the only fool is the one who’s summoned him. emrys thirsts for power - to rule and to conquer all he sets eyes on. as a hatchling, he and amitola were taken in by a powerful mage. the self-proclaimed spirit-siblings were trained in the arts of magic and divinity. they entered into a blood oath with the mage; this oath meant that upon his death, his powers would flow from him to his two disciples, giving them incredible power to match the knowledge he planned to instill. though he was already extremely powerful, a newly-adult emrys wanted more. it was never enough for him, just knowing that the blood oath would bind his mighty master’s magic to him upon the mage’s death. so he made a fateful choice to destroy the very dragon who had raised him from near birth. in the darkness of night as his master slept, he cursed the dragon with paralysis, sealing his fate with a knife to the heart. his master awoke, only able to open his eyes and see the glow of the enchanted knife in the hands of his ward. it was quickly over. though it happened hundreds of years ago, neither emrys nor his spirit-sister have forgotten that fateful midnight. |
