"I see a future made of spirit and will. I see a dragon no longer bound by a pearl."

______ He was terrified. He could barely control his body for more than five minutes before blanking out, unable to think as his body thrashed about uncontrollably for minutes on end. It all started when those boils showed up on him... he knew that the Wandering Contagion had plenty of diseases that'd sneak up on you, but this one developed in a matter of hours! And so, he was trapped in a shallow pool probably filled to the brim with diseases. He started to panic. He didn't want to die! He tried to clamour his way out of the pool, only to feel his body freeze up, and his hands began to twitch almost violently.

"Please, please not again-!"

______ The next thing he knew, he was bleeding from his forehead. During his seizure, he had hit his head against a sharp rock, making him even more prone to more diseases. Arzhur was losing hope. This was where he died, wasn't it...? All alone, twitching and thrashing about uncontrollably.

"Don't move."

Arzhur froze up hearing the voice, his eyes searching frantically for the stranger. Eventually another Pearlcatcher came into view, crimson eyes revealing himself to be a native of his desolate wasteland.

"Stay as still as you can. That's the Resurven Plague; one movement and those boils release a toxin that cause nasty seizures." The Plague Pearlcatcher explained, looking down at the other. "Normally, I would leave you here alone... but, since you're not once of Mother's kin, I think I'm allowed to give you some help. Wait here." Arzhur couldn't even manage to protest as the sanguine dragon took flight and vanished. All he could do was close his eyes and pray to the Tidelord that he was telling the truth.

______ Arzhur was awakened by a large thump, opening his eyes to see a massive Ridgeback having landed beside him. He was about to scream and beg for mercy, when he saw the Pearlcatcher from before sitting on the Ridgeback's head.

"Here we are. Try not to move him too much; it's hard to hold a dragon having a seizure." Alvah instructed, and the rather terrifying female nodded and picked up the Water dragon as gently as possible, before taking flight and returning to their clan. Arzhur was promptly carried to a fenced off area of the territory, surprisingly lush despite all the animal bones.

"You'll stay in here until you get better, alright?" The Plague dragon instructed as he laid the other down in a much cooler, blue pond. "This'll get rid of the boils, but you have to fight off the rest of the infection on your own. Got it?" Arzhur managed a small nod in response. "Good. I'm Alvah, by the by." And with that, Alvah flicked his tail and left without another word.

______ Several days passed, and eventually the boils went away. Once they did, Alvah finally visited Arzhur, albeit still keeping his distance.

"Hopefully the seizures will happen less often now." Arzhur looked up, not liking the way that sentence was said.
"You... you mean they won't stop?"
"Nope. They'll be less frequent, but with that many boils and that nasty of a seizure you were having when I found you? You'll keep having them for the rest of your life, probably."
Arzhur simply looked down, pawing a small crab that was in the pool with him.

"...But, hey. You survived the worst part of it. I'd say you'll do just fine from now on." Alvah half-heartedly tried to cheer him up, to no real avail. "You have a clan to go back to, right?" Arzhur shook his head.

"...No?"

"No. My siblings moved away, and my parents... well, lets just say I'm the runt."

"...Ah." Alvah nodded, and sat down. "My siblings went to serve our god, but they wouldn't accept me into her ranks. Being the runt isn't fun, is it? Ah well... our clan is kind of known for taking in oddballs." Arzhur looked up and gave a weak smile, and for hours the two chatted. He learned that the Ridgeback who carried him was Alvah's mother, and that Alvah was working on his own diseases, and thus knew how to cure many other diseases. And those hours turned into days, and during it all Arzhur realized that the tales of Plague dragons being natural-born cannibals and murderers were just horror stories, and nothing more. Arzhur wanted to stay; he felt welcome here. And when he looked at Alvah...

Well, the future he saw was bright.
