O, MANY EYED GODS — REMEMBER YOUR PROPHETS WHEN THE FINAL DAYS COME. Sergius is a cleric; a servant of the gods, so he claims, though many question his allegiances within the clan. Rowena, especially, has always wondered about his motives for following Creep out of the wilderness — and the two have always had a rather tumultuous relationship, veering wildly from hatred to affection depending on the given day. He is quiet, studious and insightful. He keeps his workspaces clean, almost obsessively so. His knowledge of healing and medicines is unprecedented, and among this, he also knows a great deal about various pathogens, and how to cure them or stop their spread, as well. His cavern home and workshop is well-stocked with herbs, medical tools, books, and incense—as well as many strange idols and carvings. Above all things, Sergius seeks knowledge. He likes to know how things work, and how people work. He asks many questions, in his soft, slithering voice. His gaze is focused and observant, and he has a certain aura that makes many of those who spend time with him feel uncomfortable; defenseless. He's keen to notice things that others might miss, and has an acute sense of when he's being lied to, or not told the full truth. Oddly, Sergius has a certain affection for the mad prophet, Harbinger, whom he claims as a sister. The two are unrelated, but they are close, nevertheless. His clanmates have chittered over how they expected her mad ramblings to bother his practical-and-erudite self, but for some reason... they seem to endear him.

Rowena was beginning to become impatient.
"Do you know how to do anything with haste?" Her voice echoed through the wide cave, between the hanging-herbs and the various haphazardly-placed shelves and trinkets. He could see her — lying forelegs-crossed at the entrance to his cavern. Sergius payed little mind to her prattling. She was always prattling. Those knightly types — always alike in bullheadedness.
"Never rush art," Sergius replied, voice level and casual, with a hint of amusement, "Or science — especially not medicine, which is both."
He could hear the irritated clicking of her claws on the stone, the sound of her groaning at his flippancy. It brought a smile to his face, as he reached for another shelf of ingredients, pulling down several differently-colored mushrooms to add to his mortar.
"Insufferable." Rowena muttered, and then raised her voice and added, "Sometimes I think you're doing this to get a rise out of me."
"Nonsense," Sergius replied, putting the finishing touches on his concoction, "That would be unethical."
"Then you're definitely doing it to get a rise out of me." Rowena scoffed, smacking her tail on the ground as he finally emerged from the curtain of rotting vines near the front of his cavern, "You don't think I know you're bad news? Creep may be willing to tolerate you, but I know better."
"My dear, I won't tell her you said that." Sergius flashed her a toothy smile as he began to remove the old bandages from her damaged rear leg, "For your sake."
Rowena huffed. She left him to his work, despite her reservations — let him unbandage her, apply his new salve and slowly begin re-tying the new, clean cloths. As he worked, she kept clicking her teeth. He could see the distaste in her eyes.
"I know you don't care what Creep wants." Rowena said, finally breaking the working silence, "I know you're not just some devout medic. I know you're not here because we're your friends, and you're not here because you want to help. So what are you here for? What are you, Sergius?"
( What am I? )
Sergius seemed to ponder for a moment. He finished tying the new bandages, tucked the salve bottle back into his bag, and cleaned his claws on a cloth. Finally, he stretched, and sat back on his haunches. With a thin smile, he replied:
"My dearest Rowena — I am just a humble servant."
