Esmeralda soared high above the treetops, higher than the mountain peaks, but staying just below the cloud line. She did want to keep an eye on things after all. Despite being in light lands, she still felt the wind in her blood and soul and it continued to grow inside her. It gave her strength and she would prove that strength to others, her guardian Ceres included. She was not a little hatchling anymore that needed guidance; she had already proven herself in battle many times over and she would continue to do so with the wind at her back and guiding her wings.
A screech carried on the winds alerted her to a possible fight. “Perfect,” she thought. She glides down towards the sound to see a young dragon about to be surrounded by wandering beasts. She shakes her head with a huff before swooping down on one beast and landing on another. “Too easy…”
The young dragon, tears still in their eyes tries to start saying thank you but Esmeralda interrupts. “Just- don’t even begin. Get out of here before more show and don’t come back out here until you can at least put up a fight little whelp. Now take to the sky before I leave you on your own. I do have important duties to attend to.”
The young dragon hangs their head low before weakly taking off.
“Hmph. They just don’t raise them like they use to.”
