Biography

Paarthurnax
The Curse of Much Knowledge is Often Indecision

"HOW DARE YOU"

Paarthurnax's brother had always been moody, and wasn't someone you would want to anger. Unfortunately, Paarthurnax did just that. "We don't need to kill them!" He pleaded, watching the longneck scurry around, looking for an exit. "We have enough food! They did nothing!"

His brother glared at the beastclan scout, and it shrank away, terrified. "Those things steal eggs from unwary dragons, Paarthurnax. And I found that one around the nest in our lair. I was going to kill it, but you stopped me, and now IT COULD GET AWAY." The brother slammed his tail, and both Paarthurnax and the longneck jolted. Paarthurnax herded the longneck to his side, out of his brother's reach.

"These creatures don't know any better, brother. Please, If we just helped them-"

"AND WHEN THEY BACKSTAB US?"

"You aren't giving them a chance!"

THOSE BEASTS HAVE KILLED OUR KIND, AND YOU WANT TO FORGIVE THEM?"

"The longnecks are more peaceful than that! If you want to hate them, be my guest! But killing them is only going to make things worse!"

"When we ERADICATE THEM, THERE WON'T BE ANY PROBLEMS TO MAKE WORSE."

"Well maybe you need to think abou-"

"MAYBE YOU NEED TO THINK ABOUT THIS"

Paarthurnax's brother lunged at the longneck, snarling. Paarthurnax, terrified, brought his fist down on his brothers head, making a sickening crack. His brother slumped to the floor, silent, and the longneck scurried up to Paarthurnax's shoulder, looking at the body. The anger that was blinding him slipped away, leaving an empty feeling as he stared at the pool of blood growing on the ground.

Regret filled Paarthurnax as he began shaking his brothers corpse, calling out to him in a hopeless attempt to wake him up, as if he were simply asleep. He knew what he had done, but it filled him with such sadness that had never before been as strong as it was now. Paarthurnax sat by his brother, and closed his eyes.

He swam in the sadness, and it felt like he was drowning. He felt the hopelessness and regret weigh on his shoulders, and he felt the lingering anger still blurring his sight. He felt the sick feeling in his stomach, threatening to come out. He felt everything trying to crush him, and he breathed.

He swam in the sadness, and breathed it in, not letting himself drown. He felt the weight on his shoulders, and he straitened his back., letting it slide off. He felt the anger in his eyes, and steadied his breath, shooing away the anger. he felt the sick feeling in his stomach, and filled his stomach with air, letting the sickness dissipate. He felt everything float away, and he felt calm.

He opened his eyes, and found his brothers body still there. the longneck tapped on his scales, looking at him in an apologetic way. "Its okay, small one. While it pains me greatly, it was in defense. I had good reason, it doesn't quite excuse my actions to others, but it is enough. Come, we would be in danger, should we stay here."

It was a long time before Paarthurnax landed, putting a great distance between him and the small mound of dirt that was his brother's grave; he had felt the need to give his brother a proper grave, so he dug one by a tree that had been their favorite as hatchling.

He shuffled into a small cave, peering around for any inhabitants. As his vision grew darker, a purple dragon came into view, and he found himself being dragged into some bedding, where he promptly fell asleep.

Just before, he heard a faint, far away voice, saying, "Its going to be okay, my name is KriiLunAus, and you're going to be okay."
