Biography

As you approach her, the Godmother raises her exhausted head from her heating stone, and she lifts her powerful wings in order to support her body up off of the ground. She is a giant beast, but she isn't in any way intimidating - in fact, she is like a beating red sun, welcoming you in with the warmth of her body. Cautiously you nestle up beneath her wings, and she wraps you in a sunbeam embrace. Her booming voice made the ice beneath you crack as she said to you, "Welcome, my child." Her empty eyes melt away all of your worries, and in her light, you feel right at home. Hours pass and you eventually fall asleep, but once you awake, the beast is gone. Looks like she left you some honeycomb fragments as a gift, though!

Godmother's Theme Song
Despite the sizes of other Faes, the Godmother somehow towers above all other dragons, her large wingspan and mass making her close to the size of the elemental deities themselves. Although she is on the larger scale, she is gentle - perhaps too gentle. The civilians of Tundrakeep do not see the Godmother very often, unless she’s a passing overhead shadow or a caring guardian in the Brooding Lair. No one questions it.

“Yes, and that is the thing about her - no one knows where she came from, or where she belongs. The only thing we know is that she doesn’t know, either.”

The Godmother doesn’t seem to have any known family ties, besides her new hatchlings and mate, Tarot. In fact, there’s nothing we know of her past besides the fact that it is the past, and to her, it never was. Many whisper of tales of her spawning through a drop of golden rain, or through a lick of the sun - others say that she was the runt of an ancient line of Fae, or some kind of branch of unearthed royalty. These are just whispers, however - mere whispers - for no one dares speak up under the shadow of the Founder of Tundrakeep.

She has the reputation for being mute but fair. She speaks rarely, as it seems to drain her energy to make the slightest of movements besides resting and gliding through harsh winds, but what she does say seems to be said in a thousand quiet voices, like a choir of harmonic tongue. She cares vastly for the protection of Tundrakeep and its civilians, especially the young. No one knows why she created the place, but no one seems to question it. Everyone here stays relatively content with the lives they live. She keeps them well fed, keeps order within the community, and makes sure their families are safe from harm and the outside world… Though, it’s unclear what “danger” she believes is out there, even if no one cares to find out.

Her scales bring off a natural heat, a pleasant feeling similar to that of a campfire on a cool night. Her eyes are swirling bowls of pearls and milk, but look like they are bottomless - her eyes, so deep that if you pressed your finger through them, you would never reach the end of the nothing that resides within the bright, shining sockets. Some describe her embrace as intoxicating, or even narcotic; just one touch and most will fall into a deep, clear sleep within her grasp. Because of this and her constant lack of energy, rumors pass by the tongues of many, telling of a tale that the Founder may be narcoleptic - or maybe even a witch.

But no one asks questions, they just tell the stories. They tell the stories because the Godmother does not have any answers to their questions, nor a story of her own.

To Tundrakeep, her immortal child, she will forever remain an empty book.
