Biography
Aesha or Solana
Twilight
Geneticist of the Citadel. Heaven Spear, Impiro- "Unbound"
She is lucky. Lucky, lucky, lucky. Unbounds never make it this old- look how she's grown. She is a lucky one indeed, for it is not she who must pay the price of her freedom.
-
"Freed" from her link to the Eleven. She has no connection to a Flight, and by all means, Aesha shouldn't be alive. As soon as her connection was severed, she should have died. Instead, the person beside her did as Aesha stole their magic to replenish her own. She was the first Unbound to survive a week beyond the Split, and Thanen keeps her close to him to make sure she continues to survive.
-
As she learned to control the draining, Aesha figured out how to use magic. It will never be entirely her own, but she has a variety of ways to use it. The easiest way is like setting off a bomb; she lets the unused magic she drained from others come exploding out of her, creating a magical attack from however many elements she's absorbed. It's incredibly powerful and returns to the magic to its original owner, but she has no way to control it. Another method is using a recycled and watered down version of one element at a time. Her magic is incredibly weak yet more focused that way, and both uses drain her reserves to the point of collapsing. The final way is to channel and augment someone else's magic through herself, boosting it and mixing it with her own reserves.
-
Aesha gets unreasonably attached to things in short amounts of time. She loves physical contact, and anything willing to cuddle with her gets placed at the top of her list.
-
Natural v. Unnatural Breed Changes
Dragon genetics are highly unstable and are prone to random mutations, especially if one lives in a potent magical environment. The most common example of this is exposure to concentrated Arcane magic causing the development of extra limbs, or intentionally causing a mutation in oneself to become a Bogsneak with the raw, unadulterated magic of the Cauldron. However, there are much more subtle changes if a dragon lives in a territory outside of its native element for long periods of time. The "foreigner" begins to take on the physical traits of the indigenous breeds, even if their elemental affinity isn't that of the Flight they live in. Natural breed changes are more like sped up evolution, causing a Wind Nocturne to grow feathered wings or have an elongated body, while a Shadow Skydancer may have purely leather wings and a darker, rougher hide. These hybrids can also arise from
