Velare was known for staying at the edge of the group as a hatchling. She observed most of the time and remembered what she had seen. She could recite by heart what the other hatchlings liked and didn't like by observing them. Occasionally they'd ask for her to go with them and explore as far as they were allowed, Velare would always run ahead and the report back with what she had found. Much like knowing about others by observing, by going ahead she would know the terrain of the area better than anyone else and could always find her way back by noticing the smallest of details.

As she grew, Velare's ability to remember everything she observed only grew as well. Once she was flying she started to learn the terrain from above and could easily recognize it from the ground as well. She started to learn to spot danger or movement that was out of place in areas. She never confronted the danger, she always took it back to anyone she knew for them to deal with. This earned her the nickname of Scout.

Her dark colours blended into different shades well, and usually helped her to disappear so that she could observe without being noticed. She certainly knew this and would use it to her advantage. Soon though, she had observed everything of her home and needed to move on. There was little danger for her to watch for, and few things to report. She knew that her skills would be useful to others. It also meant she could learn more areas, see more things and such ideas excited her greatly.
