"The winds shall blow me away one day... Just maybe not today."

Apheliotes isn't his real name. His true name has been buried long, long ago when he discovered that he'd lost his precious pearl. In Pearlcatcher society, losing that most sacred and important part of him meant that he would be forever doomed to be an outcast. He was thrown from his home and left to fend for himself.

What he carries around now is a sphere of opaque glass. He will never reveal his secret shame but, since he can't go home, has dedicated himself to forging a new identity. One that he centered around his ancestral ties to the Windswept Plateau.

He flew in to the Bug Clan looking to interview a few of the inhabitants about their strange hoard. He'd heard word of them through the grapevine and wanted to get the story for himself. The Clan welcomed him with open arms, bringing him mistral beetles as presents and being generally very open to his questions, so much so that Apheliotes found himself taken by surprise. He hadn't been used to such open and honestly friendly treatment in a long while.

So far he hasn't left. He keeps insisting that he'll leave soon but never does. Meanwhile he politely refuses the Clan's attempts to train him in the coliseum. Shying away from any sort of confrontation that might damage either his person, his already bruised ego, or his precious "pearl". Instead he's become the Clan's impromptu wind ambassador, welcoming other wind dragons with stories and tales from their homeland and playing diplomat to other clans.
