"They have done nothing but stare." She whispered quietly, her gaze fixed off into the cloudy evening. The sun had already set.

The fae at her side fluttered her wings. "I noticed. A strange lot, this one." Her nonchalant tone didn't hide the puzzlement both of them felt, "You're not different from the rest of us."

Her faceted gaze turned to her friend, "Except in one aspect."

The fae regarded her, her deep eyes unblinking, "I've noticed that too." She clicked her tongue, "They've gone through turmoil, like a scar that's still healing." A breeze went past the cliff, making the fae tilt her head slightly, "Maybe letting the four of us stay is a another step towards recovery."

She sighed deeply, ears flickering, the corner of her crystalline eye catching a glimpse of the one eavesdropping. Bright green eyes. Another breeze went past, hiding the rustle of the reeds as the visitor disappeared.

Neither of them moved for a moment. The fae's eyes shifted to where their visitor had vanished, "I suppose only time will tell," she murmured.
