Biography

Thana was nobility. She was born to a lineage of Pearlcatchers all with too much money and power but never enough time. Thana was raised by herself as the adults--even her parents-- ignored her in favor of gaining more and more wealth. When Thana asked why they had so much money and how they obtained it, she was met with silence.

Over the years, her curiosity grew more and more. She wanted to understand how, even during a time of economic depression, the family was more than well-off and floated above it all. Clues scattered around her home puzzled her for years. Stakes, silver knives, crosses (although these were always found stashed away in the basement and broken in half) and other strange knicknacks. For a while, Thana believed that the family as a line of vampire hunters.

Once she became an adult, her mother and father confronted her. They sat her down and explained how, long ago, a dragon named Nalani who shared their bloodline made a deal with a demon named Aslan. They had agreed that, if the rest of the family line would have demon blood in them, then every single blood member would effortlessly gain power and wealth despite the circumstances.

Upon learning this, Thana ran. She’d learned that every member would end up being a blood-drinking murderer and that no one had been able to ignore the urge forever. She almost regretted learning the truth. Ignorance is bliss, as they say.

Thana ran and ran across Sornieth, isolating herself from other dragons. After she matured into an adult, her hunger was insatiable. She ate as much as she could, but just a moment later she was starving again. Thana had a quiet thought in the back of her mind.

You can’t resist.

And she couldn’t. The next time a lost wanderer stumbled into the cave she was hiding in, she pounced with lightning speed. As soon as the poor dragon was in her claws, she sank her teeth in and lapped at the blood that welled up. Instead of traveling to her digestive system, it collected in the bottle-like section of her neck, almost as if it were a capsule of blood.

Faintly, she realized that she was keeping the blood for her future young to fully transition one day. Faintly, she realized she’d been fed blood at a young age as well.

Many of her victims are male Pearlcatchers who attempted to woo her but couldn’t stand beside her. She felt the most glee out of ripping them apart. In fact, she felt a sense of glee everytime she killed something, no matter what it was. For some reason, though, she can’t get herself to hurt animals. Everyday, she goes out and feeds the birds, when the mist is still hanging low and the air is cool.

One day, while she was roaming throughout Sornieth searching for fresh blood, she found her first clan. The clan was in the Plaguebringer’s domain, perhaps the only place where Thana had trouble feeding. So, the clan was a godsend. Instead of immediately killing the clan, Thana decided to slowly cultivate the clan, like a shepherd waiting for his pigs to mature perfectly.

Thana is still hungry.
