It was so cold... Just the way she likes it. She sighs, and a puff of frost wisps around her nose. A keening noise pierces through the forest again. Intrigued by the creature's tenacity, she decided to investigate. Leaves crackle and rustle as she gets up, the breaking ice shattering the illusion that she was a statue.

As she approaches the source of the noise, her shadow eclipses the tiny being before her. A dragon hatchling, barely hours old. Cooing, Night curls around the baby. Hush, little one. And with that, the hatchling is silenced. Just like how the winter had taken her mortal identity. It is not her fault the baby was forsaken. But it was her responsibility to handle them.

One day, she will pass on her duties, like the previous Night. For now, she will guard and guide the forsaken.
