Riptide swam leisurely around in one of the larger tide pools near his home. He ducked under and blew out of his nose sending the small fish hurrying away from him in terror. Snickering he surfaced and rolled over onto his back to stare up at the sun high in the sky. Floating there he wondered what it would be like to have been born to the sky and not the water. Sure he loved his watery home but as he gazed at some of the sky dragons playing high above he wondered if maybe he was meant for the sky.


______ Rolling over and launching himself out of the tide pools, effectively scaring the fish again, Riptide beat his wings hard and took to the sky. Soaring over his watery home he paused, hovered in place for a few beats then took a sharp dive and dove deep into the water. No, this is truly where I belong. he thought as he gazed at his family, friends, and his beautiful underwater home. Right here under the sea the seaweed is always greener.
