One accident ruined her life. One accident got her banished from the clan that she had lived in her entire life, outcasting her to the edges of the territory (after all, Kombi never outcasted a dragon. At least, not in name). Acilyx was now a rumor, a legend of a ghost of a Ridgeback that haunted the territory. But oh (but oh), could she not wait until they all found out how very real she was. How very physically real she was. Her time was coming, and she knew that it would be so satisfying to rip her vengeance out of a capsule dragon’s neck. Hmm...maybe her experiments have had some effects on her.

Acilyx was new to the clan when it happened, but maybe that was for the best. After all, now she has no left over feelings for anyone in that cursed place. But, we’re in the past, not the future. Acilyx was new to the clan, a newer light dragon that came on her own after hearing legends about the Nature clan that lived in the trees and still was technologically up to date. And oh were the legends so very very true, and Acilyx was there for it all. To watch the smoke (multicolored in ways that she didn’t think smoke could be) billow out of the lab. There, she knew she was supposed to be there. And soon enough, she was. Her front limbs covered in rubber lab gloves, goggles protecting her eyes. She worked alongside the best in the clan, but she was always second rate. Always an apprentice, a helper, an Igor. Warned away from the vats of bubbling green liquid that things got thrown into. Always told to retrieve things from chests, but to get away from the actual alchemy. Acilyx wasn’t allowed to do anything, always having her mentor (a large bogsneak man named Kenan) hovering over her shoulder and telling her what to do, or monitoring everything she did. But, soon enough, Kenan became too old for the lab, too clumsy to be trusted with chemicals. And then it was Acilyx’s time to shine. And shine, she wanted to do. She saw people change themselves, to change how they looked or even what breed they were. They looked beautiful at the end results, perfect as if they were made to be like that. And oh was Acilyx jealous of it. Jealous of the bright colors that erupted on her friend (or was she just using Acilyx for her cauldron? No matter, her blood will be in her new cauldron soon enough either way). And so she plotted to make herself be beautiful. She was always jealous of the beautiful bogsneak ladies that would leave her lab, all beautiful and mighty. She was jealous, but not for long. Because she snuck a few things away, from the hoard or from the lab. Hoarding up enough to make herself beautiful. And as they cooked, as the brew was bubbling and the floor slick, she fell. Down down down into the brew. And when she rose up, she was different.

When Acilyx arose from the brew, oh how different she was. Instead of being a beautiful bogsneak, she remained a Ridgeback, remained large and deadly with fangs (now larger), and claws (now sharper), and the spines that were normal sized on her erupted bigger. Bigger and glowing as if she was radioactive like her cauldron. Of course, her breed wasn’t the only thing to try to change. In an effort to gain both Poison and Toxin genes, she instead merely created a poisonous toxin that ruined her. Ripping through her wings and creating holes to prevent her from ever flying again. Chemical scars covered her chest and body, steaming with radioactivity as she hissed at her reflection in the steel walls of her home. Boils of steaming green erupted on her ruined wings and her legs. Scars ripped at her stomach and her neck, making her keen like she was feral. Soon enough the racket drew the attention of her clan leaders, and for a split second: Acilyx was relieved. She thought that Lilly and Keith would save her, would help her, would undo what she had done. But no, instead what she got was horror, horror and fear and she was told to wait. Her breath came quickly and shallow as she paced, whining with the pain her ripped wings caused with every step. But when they came back, they didn’t come with an alchemist, they came with her belongings. Throwing the bag at her, they told her in no uncertain terms that she was to leave the clan. Leave and never returned. And so, heartbroken, Acilyx left. But she didn’t leave all the way. She left the clan grove but oh, she didn’t go far. She went into the woods, before finding an abandoned witches hut...with a cauldron already inside. Her scarred face twisted into a smile and plots of vengeance came upon her as she began to scavenge for things. After all, she’s going to need to renew her stores of materials.

Once she was outcasted, those that still remembered her soon found their memories were untrustworthy. They found themselves convinced that Acilyx hadn’t ever lived in the clan itself, that she had merely been visiting and then had left to go back to her original clan. When the smoke from the abandoned hut came up over the trees, the eldest dragons (with their failing memories, you can’t blame them for not knowing of the loner Ridgeback that disappeared) began to weave ghost stories. Of an angry wraith that lived out in the forest, itching to find hatchlings and toss them in her cauldron for experiments. A child’s tale, something to keep the hatchlings safe and in clan territory. Soon enough, it was only Keith and Lilly that knew the truth, and they swore the other to secrecy. Swore to let the memory of Acilyx fade, and allow her to be replaced with an angry wraith that couldn’t hurt anyone. But oh, how they didn’t know how true they would turn out to be.

____Acilyx was fine with being alone. Alright that was a lie, it was new and she hated it. It was new to have no one to talk to, to have no one responding to her chats. It didn’t take long before she began talking to the air just to fill the oppressive silence that she hated. But this would turn out to be very very beneficial. After all, the mixture of poisons mixing and chattering of dragons was a pinpoint for a Lithetail. Sent by the Serthis to destroy one of the first Nature clans that they saw. When the Serthis heard the voice, they thought they had found their mark. But when they came across the dilapidated house, they soon found they instead had come across an ally in their search. After a bit of introduction, the Serthis introduced themself as Auyno, and Acilyx shared her name with them. They began to talk, about their plans and their missions. It wasn’t long before a fast friendship was formed.

____Lithetail Assassin, that’s what Auyno was. They were sent by the Serthis to infiltrate a nature clan and then poison one of the leaders, pinning the death on the other one. Causing mistrust and chaos that would soon turn the clan against itself. This plan clicked just perfectly (one might think it was fate, but after her accident Acilyx no longer believed in such myths), and they began to talk about something more than their previous missions. They began to talk about a plan. A plan to infiltrate Kombi, but first (of course). But first they needed a dragon to accompany Auyno. As more and more materials filled Acilyx’s shelves, they soon figured out their plan.

____Their plan was simple: create a bogsneak egg, let it hatch, and raise it as their own. For really, it was their own, their perfect plan and beloved creation. Auyno took to hunting and gathering, bringing back food to store and extra materials to toss into the cauldron. They needed a lot of materials to create their child. No matter what they looked like, as long as they were theirs, Auyno and Acilyx would love them. It took a long time, longer to get everything cooking and everything cooled off. But soon enough, Acilyx found herself curled around an unhatched Bogsneak egg and cooing at it. In an almost embarrassing show of love, Auyno barely let Acilyx up during the nesting. Taking care of the cauldron and the food gathering, only letting her get up for two hours a day to exercise, and only when she could watch over the egg.

____All of their hard work soon paid off. The egg hatched one day during the night, with Acilyx’s tattered body curled around it. But it was beautiful and healthy (healthier than Acilyx could’ve hope from a cauldron hatch), and it was loved. Oh how they loved their child, and they raised it well. Raised it like any two mothers would raise their child. But soon enough, it was time. Time for the child to leave with Auyno and go enact all of their revenge. The child was ready, and willing. After all, what would a child not do to make their mothers happy?
