An escapee from The Labyrinth (an Original concept of the Labyrinth belongs to ToastyThief).
Escaped with Mikal in order to protect her after brutally teaching her tormenters an unforgettable lesson. Never, NEVER leaves her side, and would die to keep her safe.
Now that Mikal is more comfortable in Diamoor, she is given more space to roam. Her Warcat acts like a seeing-eye companion when Talow is busy. Now, the only thing she really needs help with is flying!
The necklace he wares is the last remaining item that belonged to his brother, Bone.
Bone and Talow were traveling mercenaries for hire, and they made a hefty bit of treasure from it too. One night, as they made camp and rested after a day of traveling, a massive swarm of harpies attacked the sleeping brothers. A flurry of talons ripped and tore at whatever they could. Tearing cloth, wings, and scales with wrath that Talow didn't know they possessed. The only way he was able to keep them off of him was to dive into a nearby fishing hole.
Despite his primal instincts, the Ridgeback plunged into the cold water, occasionally ducking his head to avoid diving harpies. When the sun started to peak over the hills, the harpies left. Once Talow crawled out of the water, he saw what they had done to his brother. Bone was dead. The ground and everything around him was drenched in red. His once swift and cleaver brother was now in tattered pieces. His eyes never to open again.
A traveling merchant cart came across the scene a few hours after daybreak. A sobbing Ridgeback, feet covered in thickening red, a ruined body, and a smell that could cause any dragon to turn away.
What they didn't find was proof that the deed was done by harpies. Not even a feather was left behind.
Talow was found guilty of ending his own brother, and was sentenced to the Labyrinth. Where every moment was a fight to stay alive. And where no one cared if he was innocent.
