Absynthe is the daughter of Jokull and Gwyneira, two ice dragons that met in the harsh frozen lands of the Icewarden. Her parents were at first wary of each other but a strong love grew between them and they settled down to raise their first clutch. Absynthe was born with a skydancer brother and a guardian twin sister. She has grown to be the larger of all her siblings, her younger sister Ciana being her only match but with a smaller wingspan. Her size is an attribute from her massive father. She lived with them the longest of all her siblings, eventually leaving on her own during complications in her parent's relationship. Her father left in the direction of the Sea while she her mother caught up to her, profusely apologizing and assuring that she still loved her not matter what. Absynthe was grateful for her mother's affections and they traveled together until they came upon a large clan in the icy lands. They intended to capture them both but Absynthe forced her mother to abandon her side and fly far away safe. Gwyneira very reluctantly left, horrified at what could lie in wait for her dear daughter. Absynthe fought hard and mighty but she was taken down and kept as a prisoner. Being a brute of a dragon, only dragons larger than her could ever get near her, and even then, she always put up a fight. They shackled her to the walls and left her to rot. Yet they didn't consider that she was born of ice and the confinement only strengthened her magics and her determination. She broke loose one day, and trapped a handful of the clan in the caves, and immediately escaped the landmass in the ocean. She flew across the waters until her wings were sore and she rested in the crevices of a cliff face in the storming wastelands of Lightning. A few dragons roused her from her slumber as they peered up at her, debating what to do about her. Absynthe leapt down with a thunderous roar, but went silent when a smaller, but powerful looking guardianess approached. Leader Celtozaa, she introduced herself as. The suave leader offered her a place to call home in exchange for protecting the clan territory and members. She took a night to think before agreeing.

Her cold exterior is not only a physical trait, as the gem-like crystals are not actually a mineral as much as they are super frozen ice from her entrapment in the Ice Lands, as it is also part of her personality. She is extremely protective of herself and her familiar and usually attempts to deter curious dragons with anything from an icy glare to a roar to a rude remark. She implies that she cares for no one, but on the inside she is quite content to have a large family to look after. Her size is easily the most intimidating trait about her. She dwarfs even her own clan leader and can be almost just as ruthless.

Absynthe is a master of head on combat. Her thick freezing hide will deter many physical attackers. Her long, spined tail is almost an extra appendage for her, as versatile as a coatl's tail, she can grab smaller opponents and choke them or fling them around as she pleases. Her weakness is fire magic, as it can burn her severely. She retains a scar underneath her right wing as a reminder of her fight against a potent fire dragon in the clan that took her. That scar, because it never healed well, is a very weak spot on her body.
