BASILISK

"Speak to me, Slytherin, greatest of the Hogwarts Four."

The marble trap door slowly glided open, specks of dust fell from the ceiling as the giant serpent opened its eyes and uncoiled itself into the Chamber, rattling the cold stone walls and breathing in blissful amount of fresh air into his trachea for the first time in fifty years of time.
For centuries he has been forgotten alone under the depths of Hogwarts, locked away with his solitude inside the statue of Salazar Slytherin only to inhale a mixture of damp moldy air and eating nothing but sewage rats.
He can still remember his master’s face, the man who locked him away in this prison was ever so gentle. He did everything his master says, wishing only to be complemented because it was the only form of love he had ever experienced.
“You will stay here, my dear. Until one day, when my true heir returns to this place, you are to aid him in purging my beloved
school of all evil. You will take the honour, and I will place all my hopes upon you before my permanent departure. Remember, you have my hopes.”
Immediately after his parting words, the man sealed the entrance to the Chamber with magic.
The Basilisk kept on waiting, hoping that his master would return to free him from this imprisonment, but alas, all hope was in vain, for Salazar had never set foot in the Chamber again. Sometimes the Basilisk would leave its confinement just to catch a glimpse of his master’s statue, wondering whether or not he has forgotten about him, or if a time-delaying charm has been placed such that time was passing three times slower in the Chamber.

But finally, finally, a voice called unto him.

The Basilisk landed heavily on the stoned floor, he bent his head down so that he now came face to face to a black haired boy whom he had never seen before.
The boy was emitting a strange kind of misty glow, yet he smiled satisfyingly at the serpent, announcing that himself as the heir of Slytherin.
As if triggered by an electric current, Salazar’s last words struck the Basilisk like a blow in the head. It was his master’s final wish to work with this boy to purge the school, so he MUST follow his orders.
Kill the boy.”, said the heir softly.
Without thinking, the Basilisk launched itself towards the intruder, who dodged just in time from a lethal attack. The boy in glasses ran frantically for his life, he tripped and slammed head first onto the wet floor as the Basilisk grasped the opportunity to tear his flesh apart......
Then a diversion came.
A handsome crimson bird shot towards him from nowhere and sank its razor sharp claws into his eyes before he could do anything. Howling in rage, pain he had never experienced before spreaded through his whole body like poison while blood in the size of rubies showered the floor.
The blinded Basilisk shook his head madly as if hoping to see light again by waving away his pain, he could still hear shouts of orders and the enemy’s dashing footsteps, with the remaining strength in his body, he plunged forwards at the sound of commotion with his mouth wide open, and immerse his poisonous fangs into the attacker’s arm now trapped between his jaws.
At once, a sickening flash of pain splitted his head into two, the sword that had pierced through the serpent’s skull caused him to twist helplessly in the air, lunging for the tiny bits of air that is now escaping from his body.
Just moments before the Basilisk lost conscious, his master’s visage appeared in his head once more. Knowing that one of his fangs had stabbed into the enemy, he felt that his life was well worth it. At least he had fulfilled his master’s final wish, and now he would be joining him in the other world gladly.
Twitching and growling, the serpent had finally reached the ends of his fate, he dropped onto the cold wet floor with a thud, moving no more.
