Biography

One might call it homey, one might call it small, one might call it empty. She called it glorious. The Kingdom of Misfits, as it had been named by forgotten rulers long ago. Most used to fear the Misfits, stories would tell. But alas, even great kings are left to crumble along with the cracked walls of their palace, and the broken men who call themselves guards.

Chaos broke loose, and these men did nothing to stop it. They watched. And watched. And watched. And watched. They watched until their kingdom crumbled, slipping so far away from them they could only feel the rocks as they crushed these poor men and their blood soaked into the flagstones, forever staining their lovely kingdom of misfits. Their king was anything but cruel. He was kind. He was good. He was doomed.

Princess Emprise watched as they tore her home apart. She watched as the walls crumbled to dust so fine it stuck to her scales and took years to wash off. She watched as mages tore the rest of her Kingdom of Misfits to pieces.

Princess Emprises castle crumbled before the guards even knew what was happening. She kept her eyes on the shadows, for she hated to watch them desperately reach for what they thought was theirs. The princess soon learned that life is not something one can conquer like a city or another kingdom. Life is ruthless, and she intended not to invoke its wrath.

Far longer than any calendar or story dates back, they were there. They’ve always been there, watching, waiting for the right time to tell the world We made it. Have you forgotten about us? Yes. They were forgotten long before we knew what memories were. Emprise, a lost princess, and survivor of her fallen home never forgot. She watched as the civilians and guards, alive in anything but body, tore at the stones that had trapped them for so many years. She watched as they tore apart her home, and she laughed. She laughed at how foolish they were.
