"Stand still... let me try something."

"How long must you stay ignorant of reality?"

Tilda narrowed his eyes at the pink male Nocturne, a defiant look in his yellow eyes. He stood firmly at his spot, unwavering as he processed his mentor's frequently used line again. The male Pearlcatcher flicked his tail angrily and flexed his claws when Bayvri opened his jaws to remark on his hard work once more.

"Do you know how much you'll suffer because of your stupidity, Tilda?" Bayvri hissed, pushing his steampunk goggles up his head, letting it rest on his forehead. His red bird skull necklace jingled as he moved over to the chemistry bench, picking up a vial of bubbling, thick crimson-red liquid. The Nocturne frowned at Tilda. The Pearlcatcher only remained silent, but his left eye twitched behind his silver goggles, his grip tightening on his reddened pearl.

"This... this isn't a formula to success. This is a formula for destruction," The Nocturne cracked the rim of the test tube, thin lines spreading across the transparent surface. He flipped the cover of the bottomless pit in the middle of the room and threw it down without thinking twice. He quickly shut it again. Thank Shadowbinder he did, since right after the tube was thrown, an explosion could be heard resonating loudly through the tunnel. "You're creating things that won't help anyone."

Bayvri picked up another vial that shivered in its spot, the unstable black liquid shimmering wildly. He got rid of it too, and Tilda bit back the urge to throw his mentor into the pit along with his hard work. He bit his lip, unable to keep eye contact with Bayvri. Tilda sniffed.

"Stop this. Just stop," Bayvri murmured with his eyes full of despair, taking Tilda's entire rack of vials and tossing them into the pit. Seconds passed and the two could hear a mess of explosions happening down the pit. The Nocturne stared deeply into Tilda's eyes, concern flickering in his steady gaze. Tilda ground his teeth together with each vial that got thrown out until he couldn't keep the boiling rage that bubbled up within his body. With a cry of hurt, he lashed out blindly at Bayvri.

Bayvri didn't even flinch one bit. He only stood statue-still in his position. Tilda opened his eyes slowly, retracting his claws and his limb away shakily. He gasped when he saw the damage he had inflicted on his mentor, shocked at what his seemingly blunt claws could do. Bayvri's talons rose to his left eye, touching it gently. Tilda could hear the older male wince and hiss a little, but he admired Bayvri's calmness. Despite his left eye bleeding profusely, the Nocturne kept a straight face. He lifted his good eye to look at the Pearlcatcher. Blood rolled down his cheeks and fell to the floor, dribbling non-stop.

"You can't be brought back. You're sightless to everything now," Bayvri said with a hint of irony in his low tone. Tilda grabbed his chest, backing away. He wanted to apologize so badly, but nothing came out of his mouth. He wanted to turn back time. His lower jaw quivered anxiously. Bayvri shook his head dejectedly and pushed open the door of the room, glancing one last time behind him at Tilda before he went to Faeldir for treatment. What he said left a mark on the Pearlcatcher forever.

"Stay in that deluded mind. Rot with your sins, and don't ever come back. Don't ever think of me as your mentor - I've failed the Clan by raising such a horrible chemist and I'll be forever humiliated to think that I had once taught you."

With a sharp bang of the wooden door, the lights in the room flickered and went out. Tilda sat unmovingly in the dark, confined space, tears welling up in his eyes. He removed his goggles and let them flow freely down his cheeks, staining the mask he wore. But despite all the sadness his outside had seemingly displayed, he felt... happy. He felt a new sense of joy. Why?

His emotions were simply broken after so long.
