Freja

Freja was born in secret, on the edges of the territory. She spent the first three hours with her mother, but, because her father was not her mother's mate, the beginning of her life was spent in hiding with her father, Auriel. Occasionally, her mother would come to visit. She would talk to Auriel, in a hushed voice, about his planned disappearance. When she was old enough, he left and took her with him.

The first night away from the clan territories, Auriel and Freja were attacked by Beastclans. They were outnumbered. Auriel sustained minor injuries, but was able to flee. Freja was pummeled, her pearl cracked and her wings badly damaged, but she was left alive. When her father returned, he brought her back to the clan. He stayed with her and Chanda for four days. He spent most of that time outside the den. He was too overcome with guilt to look at her. On the fourth night, he fled alone.

Freja was never able to fly after that. Although her mother loves her dearly, the rest of her family has been unable to accept her in the same ways. Pearlcatchers of the clan see her as nothing but a broken thing that cannot be fixed. Her mother's mate sees her as the mark of his lover's infidelity. She prefers to stay on the edges of the territory, as her father did, but she is not a guard and not a scout. She is a distant part of the clan, joining for events and socializing sparingly with those she comes across. She likes to collect things that make her feel more whole, keeping some for herself and sharing others with the clan. In fact, she has grown quite found of the hoard protector, Morgan. She does not have many other friends though. She is a kind but reserved dragon, a part of the clan but barely known to most.
