Vega grew up alone. He never knew his family, and was never struck by any interest regarding them. He instead was raised by nature, and the passing dragons in his life.

Particularly, he remembers a Pearlcatcher woman who taught him the common language, and the ways of society. She loved him dearly, as a son, and convinced him to follow her out of the wilds into the world. At first, he was happy to remain with her as she traveled the countryside, but the further they went from the Everblooms, the lonelier he felt, even in cities of many dragons. Realizing he would never be happy apart from his homeland, Vega ran away from his adopted mother, and has never contacted her since.

In his fleeing, he did collect a great many books regarding botany and astronomy. Back home, he fully dedicated himself to becoming a master of these subjects, and set up a small observatory at the top of one of the trees near his caverns.

Vega's firstborn son, Sweetwing, is a hard topic for him, as he left to find strength in another clan and was forcefully exalted. His other adopted son, Mette, at the mere mention of his name, sends Vega into a cold fury. This has led Vega to have a difficult relationship with exaltation, and has since not overseen any of the ceremonies himself.
